This Upper Canada home was built in 1828 by the Campbell family and sits upon the unceded, traditional Algonquin territory of the Anishinaabe people, as well as the traditional Mohawk territory of the Haudenosaunee people. This unit was a late 1900's conversion. Enjoy the fertile farmland and big sky views that surround this guest suite, and the peace and quiet that country living has to offer. The space This part of the house was a late 1900’s addition and the location of the barn garage. The stone house is an original Upper Canada home was built in 1828 by the Campbell family (John Campbell 1778-1848) who settled here after the War of 1812. The home was owned by many generations of the Campbell family, including Postmaster John Campbell when the home acted as the Breadalbane post office for a brief period in the 1860’s. The original house is a stone build, with a stone foundation, and features the original hand cut beams and wide, pine plank flooring. The land this house sits upon is a part of the unceded, traditional Algonquin territory of the Anishinaabe people, as well as the traditional Mohawk territory of the Haudenosaunee people. The property is quiet and peaceful offering big sky views and rolling fertile farmland. The guest suite is a recently renovated one bedroom apartment with full kitchen, four-piece bathroom, large separate bedroom with closets, full laundry and living room. Two remote controlled ceiling fans, central heating through baseboard radiators, and optional air conditioning or space heater available (seasonal). Guest access Guests have full private access to the guest suite. From the vestibule there is a locking door for your comfort and safety. The kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom are solely for your use. There is ample yard surrounding the property that you are free to explore, but it is a shared space so you may see our family or other guests on the property. Other things to note Note: This is a rural home is located in the country, and as a result there are a variety of critters that live near the home. Numerous birds, squirrels, field mice, chipmunks, bugs, and sometimes larger animals like turkeys, foxes, dogs, and deer come around the property. Occasionally we will also see the odd bug inside (water beetles, flies, spiders, wasps, etc.). The area we are in has no streetlights, and is very dark at night. The nearest town with most services is 7min by car. There is an active preschooler who lives on the property who you may hear or see outside occasionally. If you are disturbed of these sorts of things this may not be the best setting for you.
