Description
In the foothills of Betws Mountain, in the heart of South Wales, sits our traditional small farm. A stay at Gilfach Gower is an escape to nature, tranquillity and a sustainable way of farming life. We offer unique accommodation and high end luxury in a completely private and secluded setting, whilst being sympathetic to the environment. Recently featured on BBC's 'Escape to the Country'! The space The yurt sits in its own elevated wildflower meadow, enclosed by hedgerows and trees to give complete privacy and seclusion during your stay. Celebrating traditional crafts, our yurt was handmade & hand-painted in Mongolia. The large yurt can comfortably sleep four; the king size bed providing spacious luxury for two, plus there are two extra single beds. When not in use, one is hidden away and the other serves as a relaxing day bed. Eclectic upcycled furniture give you total comfort and practicality. The yurt is fully insulated and at its heart is the wood burning stove... using our own seasoned wood it will have you tingling with warmth, even on a cold night. Outside the yurt is a dining area with kettle bbq and beautiful hand made fire pit for toasting marshmallows. And tucked away behind the yurt is the fully automatic electric hot tub which comfortably sits four, with 12 jets providing the ultimate massage experience. It's the perfect place to relax and gaze at the stars on a clear evening. The hot tub can be used whenever takes your fancy, day or night! A short walk from the yurt is the private fully accessible shower room and fully equipped kitchen, with everything you'll need for your stay. Parking is provided adjacent to the kitchen. Luxurious bedding, blankets, towels and toiletries are provided. All you have to bring is a good book, some comfy boots and your bathers! Guest access It is stunningly peaceful and quiet... yet only 15 mins from the M4 motorway and 5 mins from Ammanford town centre. Parking is provided close to the accommodation and we offer free pick ups from the local train and bus stations. Ammanford is a coal mining town full of heritage and charm. The town has a great selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars & pubs. The beautiful market town of Llandeilo is only 15 mins away, packed with visitor attractions and foodie delights. From the yurt you can see the Brecon Beacons. Local nature reserves, castles and the amazing beaches & coastline of Swansea Bay and the Gower are only a short drive away. Please note the parking area is shared with guests staying in our other accommodation unit (shepherd's hut). Other things to note This is a working farm, so why not join me for a tour during your stay and meet all the animals - Highland cows, sheep (and little lambs in spring), pygmy goats, chickens and sometimes pigs (depending on the time of year). Our delicious farm produce is available to purchase. Why not try one of our pre-order Breakfast or BBQ boxes. Or take some produce home with you! We can arrange a private yoga lesson with an experienced instructor from £35 to help you unwind and relax. If you are a party bigger than four and some of you don't mind camping, we have an area in the same field as the yurt that can fit a tent. Only available for the same party staying in the yurt. Price depends on number of extra guests. Just drop me a message for more info. Please note the yurt is privately located at the top of a sloping field and is a short walk to the shower room, kitchen and parking area. Appropriate footwear is essential. Children are welcome, but as this is a working farm, they must be supervised at all times. We are committed to minimising our impact on the environment and carbon footprint. We have an ethos of reduce, reuse and recycle. All the wood we provide for the wood burner has been felled and seasoned on the farm, with new native trees planted to offset carbon. We have relayed hedgerows and replanted a wildflower meadow to encourage biodiversity so that you can enjoy the local wildlife, birds and insects. Photovoltaics provide green electricity. Night lighting is limited to low level lighting to minimise light pollution, so that our beautiful clear starry skies can by enjoyed in all their glory.
