Description
Our self-contained timber framed studio is a modern take on a Welsh Croglofft and is built within the stone walls of an old pigsty. Tucked away, but within easy reach of the pubs & restaurants in the harbour town of Aberaeron, it’s the perfect place to drop your bags and explore all the area has to offer. The space We have, over our time here, been converting the outbuildings on our smallholding and The Pig Let was once a derelict pigsty and cart house. It now features a double height lounge area with a sofa, armchair, workbench / breakfast bar, TV (with freesat) and a small selection of books. An ensuite shower room sits under the loft platform. Narrow steps take you up to the double bed in the 'sleeping loft' (Croggloft). We supply tea and coffee, towels, organic soap and shower gel by Faith in Nature. We ask that guests use our products as we have a private drainage system that filters in to our wildflower meadow. Outside is your own enclosed verandah seating area with table and two chairs. There is also an outdoor sink with hot and cold running water and a worktop for preparing food or serving up takeaways if you want to- there are no cooking facilities but we provide cutlery and crockery. A mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities are provided in the lounge area too so its easy to make a simple cereal based/continental style breakfast (BYO). There are plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants close by in Aberaeron and New Quay for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This compact space is shaped by the thick 150 year old stone walls but the studio interior has been cleverly designed by an architect to maximise living space, much like a ‘Tiny House’ project, so the staircase is steeper than normal and ceiling heights are restricted to 1.9m (6ft 2") under the platform and at the highest part of the loft. The inside walls of this studio are thick with insulation and clad with birch-plywood giving the space a warm and calming Nordic feel. The timber frame and the exterior is clad in a mix of Larch and Douglas fir all grown and milled within 9 miles of the studio. Guest access The Pig Let is a private, self-contained building with its own entrance, verandah and loft views out on to open countryside. It is accessed from a former farm yard shared with our other listings The Dairy Shed and The Bird Hide and there is good space between buildings, Other things to note The studio is built onto the end of the farmhouse buildings so you may hear occasional sounds of family life. There is wireless internet but we are in a semi-rural location and whilst the internet is suitable for surfing it comes and goes and is not always strong enough to stream TV. BBQ’s are not permitted.
