Nestled on the edge of the New Forest National Park; Blackberry Pye is a beautiful, converted 1920's railway carriage. Set in a secluded spot on our family-run farm overlooking rolling fields, it is perfect for stargazing and getting away from it all! The decking area outside is 'suspended' above the river, creating a truly unique experience. This bespoke, handmade carriage provides you with all the luxuries you need for a rural, relaxing break in the great British countryside. The space We are a family-run cattle and sheep farm, explore the farm during your stay, use our course fishing lakes, have a swim in our indoor heated swimming pool or relax & unwind in the wooden sauna - the sauna is coin operated and use of the pool & sauna is shared with the cottages and hut on site, but you can book private, hourly swimming sessions in the pool/sauna when you arrive. Due to the it's excellent insulation, electric heater & heated towel rail, the hut is cosy all year round and so is perfect for both summer and winter stays. Inside the Blackberry Pye there is: - A comfy double bed - Soft bed linen and towels - A TV - Electric heating - Plenty of storage - Fridge/freezer - Oven with hob - Table & bench seating underneath the bed - Kitchen sink - Shower - Toilet - Basin - Fully insulated windows & doors - Kettle and toaster - Crockery, cutlery and glasses - Pots, pans and trays - Salt & pepper - Tea, coffee and sugar Outside the hut there is: - Decking area suspended over the river - Table and bench that seats 2 - Rustic fire bowl: we can provide a bbq arm and a fire basket which includes firelighters, matches and fire logs at an extra cost of £15 (please confirm if you would like the fire basket before you arrive). - A river on the hut's doorstep - Parking area and lawn - Beautiful surroundings with neighbours such as sheep, cows, ducks, moorhen, geese and heron! Please note, there is no WIFI as the hut is in a remote location and we feel it is more peaceful without it. However, there is a TV with freeview to keep you entertained on rainy days. - Private, hourly swimming sessions in the swimming pool are bookable when you arrive (the timetable is on the swimming pool door 1-2 days in advance, just put your name/hut next to the time slot you would like). - The sauna is coin operated and £1 will give you around 15-20 minutes. - The pool is open from 9am until 6pm in winter months and from 9am until 8pm in the summer months. - You will need to bring your own towels for use in the pool/sauna, as we do not provide these. Guest access You are welcome to fish on our lake which has a pontoon and is just a short walk from the carriage. Or you could just sit, relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. You are also invited to explore the farm and use the indoor heated swimming pool & sauna, which is just a short walk. The laundry room and swimming pool/sauna are shared with the guests in the self catering barns and the second shepherd's hut. Other things to note Dogs are welcome, but please note there is an extra charge of £15 if bringing dogs. Please also read my house rules before booking. Please note that the hut is located in a field away from the main farm buildings and swimming pool (a short walk of no more than 5 minutes). There is also a small step onto the decking and another step into the hut. It is therefore probably not suitable for the elderly. Blackberry Pye is self catering accommodation and so we provide the following essentials to get you going; tea, coffee & sugar sachets, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, cleaning spray, oven gloves, a tea towel, bedding, one bath towel per person and in the bathroom there is one bar of locally made goat soap, one hand towel, two toilet rolls, shampoo, shower gel & conditioner. We also have Cottage Pye & Bramble Pye; two luxury barn conversions suitable for larger groups (each sleeping 6-8 adults plus infants), as well as four other cottages available for stays, please see our website 'pyesmead farm' for more info or visit us on insta; pyes_holiday_cottages Takeaways unfortunately don't deliver to us. There is a local shop close by (NISA), as well as a farm shop selling groceries, locally produced meats, bread and cakes. If you don't fancy cooking the local shop sells ‘cook’ high quality frozen meals which are designed to be just like homemade food. If you fancy eating out there is a great selection of pubs and restaurants nearby, the ones we recommend are listed in the welcome pack in the hut.
