Away from the maddening crowd, noise and pollution, surrounded by lush green forests,farmlands, natural waterfalls and a varied species of birds and wildlife, our place offers a great space to relax, unwind and enjoy the small pleasures of a slow paced country life! The space Very few places around can boast for the scale of forests/greenery that we have, we care to conserve our flora and fauna. Some of the hardwood trees we have are easily a few hundred years old. Besides having our own natural spring, small waterfalls and a variety of fruit trees, the natural habitat attracts a varied species of birds and wildlife. With the focus on sustainable tourism, we care to be sensitive to issues that still pose to be challenging for us all.We are proud of our culture and heritage and we are committed to preserve these at all costs.Our efforts, right from indigenous building techniques to what we serve guests on the table,clearly reflects our commitment and love to what is dear to us. As much as we like travellers visiting us , we are quite happy to keep away the insensitive lot at bay. We have made sure to give all the right information and our house/farm rules are a clear indication of what we have and what we can offer.Switching over to solar or renewal energy is our long cherished dream yet to be fully realised.We believe that the focus on self is a good start to minimise the amount of carbon footprints we leave behind 🙏. Guest access We have a large hall which provides you ample space to find your own corner. Whether you want to dine inside, play board games, play the guitar or the harmonium or find yourself a book from our selected library, we have made sure there is room for everything and everybody! We would also like to add that access to the rooms and the hall including other areas involves stairs and pathways so physically challenged are not recommended as we don't want them to suffer going around and into our property. During your stay Unlike many places around which are on lease and run by outsiders, we care to be a host to every guest who visit us. Since its inception we at Kalimpong Village Retreat have adopted a philosophy of encouraging and employing village folks to help us with what we are involved in. This has over the years made the bond stronger and we can proudly say that we don't have any staffs around, we have a larger family managing the place. It is our conscious decision not to have too many rooms and even the ones we have are spread about and far from each other, giving more space and privacy. We live in the farm and are always there for you but we care for your space too and let you be just the way you feel comfortable. Other things to note We don't have room service but the food we serve is fresh, home- cooked , local and primarily from our own small organic patch.What we dont have is procured locally.
