Description

A lovely family friendly farmstay cabin, at the heart of our organic farm and cheese dairy in Somerset. Sustainable underfloor heating with polished concrete floors (pet friendly), & outside eating area with . We have a swimming pond (see pictures), and lots of pigs, and sheep. The space Please see pictures to get an accurate description of the cabin. This cabin is not about new stuff! It is about vintage goods and up cycled furniture. We provide a mixer, but it was made in the 90s, there is 1970s crockery, a Methodist organ (yes it still works), giant Jenga from the 80s, and a 19th c rocking horse, all of which you are welcome to use. The travel cot works but one side is wonky as it's been through 3 of our children and one other family. the high chair was a very expensive Swedish wooden one but is now 25 years old, so looks old. If you have got to the point where you are counting how many matching knives we have or testing how many speeds the 1970s hairdryer has then this is not the place for you. Similarly we now say we don't have a 42 inch TV because it works with Dvd only (there is no option for this on amenities) - so hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised when you arrive. If you like sustainable living, organic food, a beautiful location, and up cycled interiors then please visit...Our policy is that unless you are prepared to say hello to us when you arrive, and talk to us in person about any issues you have then we respectfully ask you to stay elsewhere. We are a working community of workaway volunteers and a family, over ten years we've discovered that those Airbnb guests that talk to us are the ones we want to have to stay. The cabin is secluded but the cabin also opposite the holiday cottage and our house is in view - so please come over and say hi. We'd love to meet you. Guest access You are welcome to walk our 22 acres, with dogs, provided they are kept on leads near livestock. We have a nature trail too, and this is a dark sky area - amazing star gazing here as very little light pollution. The swimming pond is there for you to use when you wish but we ask you don’t wear sunscreen you in the water. Similarly please do not allow your dog into the pond - Imperial College has just published a paper that dog flea treatment remains in water ways for 28 days, and contains neurotoxins that we and the resident newts do not want to encounter on our morning swim. Other things to note Please be aware this is a working farm, and the cabin and cottage are situated on the barn yard, which means there will be people tractors and animals moving around the perimeter of your back yard. The cottage and the pigs are your nearest neighbours - if you sit in your garden you will hear both if they are being loud! As organic Cheesemakers we find it hard to do changeovers for single night stays, specially during busy holiday seasons. so whilst we do host single nights we usually only agree these the week of the booking (as we know when we need to be elbow deep in curds rather than cleaning a holiday let). Thank you for noting this - so if you request a single night stay more than 5 days out, we won't be able to agree it then - though might later in the week.
