Warm and inviting private upstairs studio with off-street parking, full kitchen, laundry, electronic fireplace, rainhead shower and deck with tranquil garden in the Riderwood area of Towson. Studio is situated next to owner's stone cottage, and is tucked away at the back of 2.5 acres with private bridge and creek. Centrally located to shops, galleries, walking and biking trails, Lake Roland, Baltimore, DC and PA. Especially suitable for a restorative or romantic getaway. The space The studio is accessible via 18 stone steps from the main entrance, which lead you to your own private deck with small garden view. In the kitchen we provide filtered water, a selection of teas, hot chocolate, a variety of snacks and condiments. We also provide laundry soap in case you need to do a wash, and have extra towels and an electric throw for extra warmth on cold nights. The entire property consists of gently sloping grounds bisected by a creek frequented by a blue heron. Guests are welcome to explore two acres of open (ungated) areas from the studio to the creek and beyond to the street. There is a wooden bench on the street side of the creek and a firepit available near the house. Occasionally you may see ducks, groundhogs, fox, deer, rabbits and squirrels. Deer generally mosey over from a nearby property near dusk, and in summer you may see young one or more spotted fawn. A number of bird species also make the area their home, including pilated woodpeckers, downey woodpeckers, cardinals, goldfinches, blue jays, along with the more common starlings and sparrows. The red door is part of the owner’s residence and you are welcome to ring the bell or message us should you need anything. If you wish to interact with the dogs, we will invite you into the gated area to sit on the white bench by the stone chimney, where there is also a relaxing view. Guest access We have private parking at the top of the drive and it is very safe in our neighborhood. Please be aware there are 18 steps to climb before reaching your private studio deck. We are centrally located to restaurants, shopping and transportation, should you wish to take light rail into DC or elsewhere for your adventures. We suggest going a local search to make sure the distance between our location and your amenities work for you. Other things to note Your health is our priority. Please note that our studio is aired out for two hours after each stay, followed by our implementing the sanitary cleaning protocol. We launder sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover on high heat, and dry tumble pillows and comforters and blankets on high heat for 30 minutes. Our comforters are natural wool encased in cotton. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and adaptive to your body’s temperature. For those who are sensitive to scent, we do not use any scented products for laundering or cleaning. For those who are sensitive to sound, we have double-paned windows. If you choose to leave windows open, there is a chance you may hear some soft highway noise in the distance during high traffic times. The studio electricity is eco-friendly, powered by a community solar farm! In the event of a sudden loss of power due to a storm, we will provide a power bank so you can keep your devices charged. Please note that our hot water is on-demand, and relies on electricity. Maryland is known for lovely, yet changeable weather conditions, so we ask that you check local weather prior to booking, as we cannot be responsible for adverse weather. We will do our best to keep you apprised of anything of note that may impact your stay, and do our utmost to keep you comfortable.
