Dead Writer's Den in the heart of Bisbee

The Dead Writer's Den (DWD) is nestled hillside in the heart of Old Bisbee, just southeast of Tucson, Arizona. This quirky, spooky, artist-owned house offers incredible views of Chihuahua Hill ("B" mountain) just a stair climb from the famed Brewery Gulch. This house is over 100 years old built in 1914. Don't let the age fool you, DWD offers modern amenities including flat screen TVs in each room, full kitchen, Wi-Fi, and coffee bar. Embrace your sense of adventure, and leave reinvigorated! The space This Airbnb listing offers you the whole house, while the bottom floor is secure for the owner's personal belongings. The art in this home is intentionally thought provoking, creepy, historical and some is risqué, if you’re not comfortable with that, this may not be your place. No hard feelings! One thing to note is that there is only 1 bathroom, and the bathroom is through the “master bedroom" in an en-suite format. We understand this can be inconvenient for reservations with multiple guests, please consider this feature prior to booking. Also consider the bathroom does not have a tub, but a full shower. There are two bedrooms, one containing a workplace/desk next to a window with a great view of "B" mountain. There is an “Alexa" in the office and coffee nook. My favorite thing is to open the windows, play Charlie Parker on Spotify and work through the afternoon. There are old items in the space, old newspapers of historic value, and records for general use (good to know if your pet is curious). I’m dedicated in keeping the home clean, and sanitized in between each guest (license #20216257). Pet friendly, please send a message in advance regarding your pet to make sure the home is a good fit, I certainly want to continue offering pet friendly lodging. I ask if they chew and if they're potty trained. A pet fee is will be requested. Note failure to answer screening questions within 24 hours of booking may result in pre check-in cancellation. This house sees a lot of tourists flying in, with advance notice, prior to booking I can purchase food or additional items you need to make your stay comfortable. The nearest market is a bit of a drive, but we do have bodegas within walking distance. Please private message inquiries. Guest access Parking: The garage is currently under construction and is dangerous to park in frankly, one mistake and you can take out the retaining wall. We also have storage items in there. • Prior to reaching the house you will notice a lot that says 24-hour parking. Try to park in that area, it’s 50ft from the house. If that is full there is a lot right before that on the right-hand side. Other things to note The mural that adorns the retaining wall is a dedication to my late grandmother Beverly Jean Blanco. She was force of nature and a huge inspiration to me as a musician, strong female, and artist. The image intertwines concepts of the ladies of Bisbee, as they remind me of her, there is reading set out for you; books by local authors. My home is humble, old, and very characteristic of the city. It’s not the Ritz, but I’m happy to host you.
