Description

Our organic farm is dedicated to wildlife regeneration, so bring your binoculars and explore our woods and meadows or simply pull up a chair beside the annex's log burner. Previously an artist's studio, the self-contained rooms have recently been refurbished with low VOC paints, natural materials, organic sheets and our own alpaca and sheep's wool blankets. Heated by a log burner and photovoltaic electricity, and with an electric car charging point available. The space We share a front door and hallway, while we turn left, you turn right. Through your own set of doors, there is an open plan kitchen and sitting room. The kitchen is set up with two induction hobs, a small oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and all the basics to cook and eat. Our own pasture-fed organic beef can be purchased, and we're always happy to suggest meal ideas. The sitting room has a log burner, and the wood is sourced from our farm woodlands which we manage sustainably for wildlife. The sofa can be converted to a bed if you are a party of three. Also downstairs is a wet room with shower, sink and loo, plus a washing machine. Please be aware that there is only a shower, no bath. Up your own set of stairs is a large bedroom with a king-sized bed, which can be split into two small singles if necessary. There is a desk and armchair and lovely views over the front field. It was once used as an art studio, so is a very light and generous space. It's ideal for couples. Families are welcome, but it's a very open space and there are no stair gates. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about suitability for children, and there is a travel cot, highchair and toys available on request. Guest access Our farm is tucked into the rolling Monmouthshire countryside. But it isn't far from the main road, so the single-track lane is not torturously long. There is also a bus stop within walking distance (on Newport and Monmouth route). A private driveway leads down to the farm where there is ample space to park. Wellies are essential to get the most out of your visit, particularly if you want to explore the farm. There are far reaching views from the top fields, and an ancient woodland to explore at the bottom of the farm. There is a garden out the front of the house which is shared and surrounded by a babbling brook. We mainly use another part of the garden, so it's largely yours and lovely spot to sit under the shade of the summer house. The farm itself is just over 100 acres. I'm usually on hand to suggest routes round the farm given livestock and what's best to see at the moment - from woodland spring flowers to autumnal mushroom hunting. Other things to note Our farm has been organic for over 30 years and is grazed with a mix of cattle, horses, alpacas and a few sheep to increase and regenerate biodiversity. It is full of flowers, insects, birds and bees. More information about how we farm can be found on our website, search for Trefoil Meadows. Please be in touch if you would like to try our beef during your stay, or if you'd like a simple breakfast of freshly made organic spelt bread and homemade jam. Our alpaca and sheep's wool blankets are also available to purchase, more info can be found on our website, under Trefoil Meadows.
