Description
• CASA NICU • The 120-year-old farmhouse in a quaint village at the foot of the Carpathians near Sibiu. Completely refurbished, but with unspoilt spirit. A good choice for every gourmet who wants to spice up his experience with a dash of Romanian tradition. The space ••• CASA NICU ••• The Methuselah among our holiday rentals has seen 120 years passing by without being overly impressed. During extensive renovations we left untouched the basic substance, and so the breath of the past still blows through the patient walls. The property is situated in the shepherds village of Vale, nestled between the wooded mountains and overlooking the Transylvanian plain. On the one hand, far away from the pulse of time, on the other hand just around the corner of Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture 2007. No through traffic, in an absolutely peaceful spot. Leaving the courtyard behind you already find yourself on the way up to the mountain meadows with their unique flora and fauna in Europe. So take a break and treat yourself a place, where unspoiled nature meets history and traditions. The living quarters are located upstairs. A staircase leads out to the hallway, which was added to the house in a typical construction. Both the shower room (2 sqm) and the eat-in kitchen (14 sqm) are entered through the hallway. The kitchen is completely equipped for self-catering with a fridge, gas stove, coffee maker and espresso machine, toaster, kettle, spices, washer and more. Upon request, we provide you with breakfast, traditional menus or farm products from the village. The room (18 sqm) is entered through the kitchen. It is equipped with a double bed, TV set (international channels), W-Fi Internet access and plants. Three windows open up the room and the view out onto the village's rooftops. On arrival, you will find the bed freshly made. Hand and bath towels, shower gel and soap are provided, and an additional bed is available. The interior was chosen with care and is largely new, including kitchen and sanitation facilities, linen an mattress. To heat the rooms you use the water-bearing tiled stove that also supplies the radiators in every room. Additionally, an electrical infrared panel will start up at no additional costs for you. The enclosed courtyard is a leafy feast. Here you can relax on a covered patio, uncork a bottle of wine and unpack the card game. Or take place on the slope above the village, look into the vastness of the valley, and you will be surprised about the thoughts popping up in your mind out of nowhere. • For 2 (to 3) persons • 1 room, 1 eat-in kitchen, 1 shower room • Covered terrace in the courtyard • Minimum stay: 3 or 5 nights (seasonal) • Extra bed: € 12/ night • Pet: € 10/night • Discount from the 15th day of stay ________________________________________________ We offer more than just accommodation. On request, our cook provides breakfast or swings the wooden spoon. She conjures traditional menus fresh to the table. Also available are farm products from the village, such as fresh milk, goat or sheep’s cheese, forest honey and homemade jam, Zakusca, pickled vegetables, wine, and Schnaps. • Free pickup from Sibiu airport or train station • 2 proven, regularly maintained, private rental cars • Wi-Fi internet access, TV, maps of the area • Fully equipped kitchen for self catering • Bed linen, towels, soap + shower gel, spices, electricity, gas, firewood • On request: baby cot, high chair, mattresses • Excursion by horse-drawn cart along the wild brook and into the mountains • Guided hiking tours in the Carpathians, through Sibiu and other medieval cities in Transylvania with our partners. Tip: trip to our shepherd's hut (if available) in the mountain meadows. Very basic standard, but with lots of fresh mountain air for stressed lungs. A spring emerges a stone’s throw away, the trees are full of cherries, and you can get cheese and milk from the shepherd next door. Ascent in our horse cart and, by request, traditional shepherd stew over an open fire. . Guest access The apartment is located upstairs, and in the basement a non-rented storage room. Other things to note ••• We provide more than just one cottage ••• We are no trained tourism experts . We live in Vale and have joined together in a family-type construction company, which has built several holiday cottages. They are located in a peaceful spot without through traffic, surrounded by healthy mixed forest. Through the years, we have given them a complete overhaul or built them from scratch. With attention to detail all along, with respect towards the traditional style of the area, as well as with a view to modern building materials and contemporary housing needs. The result is an encounter of different ages and cultures in five oases of wellbeing, each of them with their own flair, distinctive and special in a place which – we hope – will be bypassed by the world's hustle for a long time to come. After eight years of work - with many possibilities for creative design - we put trowels and planing aside for a while, breathe a sigh, and are happy to present: ••• VILLA CRINA - the icing of our resort with 200 sqm of living space and terraced garden – for 8 people. ••• CASA PELU - the former farmhouse with extended loft and roof-terrace – for 6 people. ••• CASA NICU - the 120-year-old cottage with the appropriate historic flair – for 2 (to 3) people. ••• CASA LOPO - our latest farmhouse with courtyard, terrace and garden, suitable for families with kids – for 4 (to 6) people. ••• VILLA ZOLLO - the new 150 sqm holiday home on the hill with panoramic views and large garden – for 6 (to 8) people. ••• CONDO ZOLLO II - well equipped apartment with large terrace, BBQ and garden – for 2 (to 3) people. ••• COZO FANTU - our shepherd hut in the mountain meadows – for 4 people. From the income generated by the houses (your money), first the investor is served. On the other hand, administration and care-taking yield a secure income for several families. Whenever we cook for you, or any time you order local products or go shopping in the local grocery, a number of other villagers have a benefit. Finally, we are preparing a soup kitchen for the less well-off families in the village which will also be financed from the proceeds of our holiday homes. We nurture a climate of openness and equality-based relationships. .
