Boshuisje De Eekhoorn - charming quiet hideaway

Tucked away among the trees in Doldersum stands Boshuisje De Eekhoorn — cozy and just the right size. An enclosed forest garden of 700m², three bedrooms, a wood-burning stove in the garden, and squirrels regularly appearing outside the window. Not a luxury villa, but a cottage where you feel immediately at home and where the nature of the Drents-Friese Wold begins right around you. For 1–4 people, dogs welcome. The space The name says it all — squirrels are regular visitors here. The forest cottage is hidden between the trees in Doldersum, in a fully fenced forest garden of 700m². It is a charming, wooden house — not grand or shiny new, but attractively furnished and fully equipped for a wonderful stay in nature. Three bedrooms make it ideal for a family, two couples or a small group of friends. From the living room you look through large windows directly into the garden — birds, squirrels and the occasional deer in the meadow further on. Living room: Cozy living and dining room with large windows and forest views. TV, record player with LP collection, games, toys and books for all ages. Fiber optic Wi-Fi is available — but chances are you hardly need it. Kitchen: Fully equipped with dishwasher, Nespresso and filter coffee, milk frother and combi oven. Everything there to cook well. Upon arrival you will find coffee, tea and the basic essentials ready. There is a washing machine and dryer and large freezer in the shed. Bedrooms: Three quiet bedrooms, each with blackout curtains and mosquito nets for a good night's sleep. The master bedroom has a Swiss Sense double bed of 160x200. The second and third bedrooms each have a single bed of 90x200 with a good mattress. The wardrobes for the clothes are in the 2 single bedrooms. Bathroom: Functional bathroom with shower, sink with mirror and separate toilet. Garden: The fully fenced forest garden of 700m² is completely private. An outdoor fireplace with seats for cozy evenings, relax chairs and space for the children to play. All freedom for dogs — we just ask you to follow our house rules so that we can continue to welcome dogs at no extra cost. For families with small children: camping bed with mattress, high chair, Lego and wooden toys available. Practical extras: Fiber optic wifi, washing machine, shed and canopy. Parking for 2 cars on site. Charging an electric car via 220V at the carport — costs afterwards based on consumption, report in advance. Surroundings: The Doldersummerveld is a 10-minute walk from the front door — ideal for an early morning walk when the world is still quiet and views over the field from the watchtower. Then coffee on the terrace with the bird sounds around you and the chance that a squirrel will pass by. A little further on you will find the Aekingerzand, the Bosbergtoren and many more beautiful walks. Cycling enthusiasts can ride for hours without taking the same route twice. The picturesque colony villages of Frederiksoord and Wilhelminaoord are within cycling distance — the history of the Society of Benevolence is fascinating. Dolmens, authentic green villages and cozy restaurants complete the picture. There is plenty to do for children: plank paths and barefoot walks through the forest, (forest) swimming pools, climbing parks and children's and pancake farms nearby. Rental bikes are delivered by appointment. You will receive an extensive tips email from us in advance. If you come with the dog, the splashing pond is a favorite and the wet nose route. Guest access Guests have full access to the house, the garden, the barn, and the covered patio. Two cars can be parked at the house. Other things to note Bedding: Bed linen and towels are not included. This is for sustainability reasons and to keep it accessible to everyone. You can bring your own bedding, or you can rent a linen package for €16 per person (including mattress cover, duvet cover, towels, bath mat, and kitchen towels). Please let us know after your booking if you require this. We work with a laundry service that also picks up and delivers the linen. Pillow and mattress protectors are provided. Electric car charging: A 220V charger is available at the carport. Charging costs are not included and will be charged separately based on usage. Please let us know if you plan to use it.
