The Black Barn in a Mountain Hollow
Description
The Ell at Prison Hollow Homestead is a lovingly renovated 1800's barn at the intersection of forest, field, and mountain. This quiet getaway offers sweeping easterly views and easy access to outdoor adventures including hiking, skiing, and fishing. Enjoy your morning coffee as the sun rises over the Green Mountains and relax in front of the fireplace at day's end. Conveniently located 35 minutes from Burlington and 30 minutes from Middlebury. The space Re-imagined barn with old-world-meets-modern aesthetic and a beautiful valley view. The barn was taken down piece by piece from its original location in the village and reassembled at our homestead with the help of friends and family. A multi-year labor of love, we are proud of the details that express our love of this historic space. The first floor has a combined living room and eat-in kitchen as well as a small bathroom (with shower) under the stairs. Second floor sleeping quarters are cozy and rustic with a sloped wooden ceiling. Other things to note Residing in the country means co-existing with lots of incredible creatures. While a deer or osprey siting is awe-inspiring and exciting, there are also tiny animals (ahem, insects) that can be a bit of a nuisance. Important note for Fall (September-October) and Spring (March-April) bookings: We work hard to keep pests out of our spaces, but there are times in the fall (and sometimes in the spring) when there will be cluster flies. Find out more about this seasonal phenomenon by searching online for "Cluster Flies in New England". Due to the rustic agrarian nature of our space, we cannot guarantee that there will be no pests during your stay - so please keep this in mind if you are booking our space in the fall and spring. Please reach out for a "current cluster fly status report" if you have questions.
