Description

Tucked into the trees bordering the Nantahala Forest, The Hideout sleeps 10 and feels like a cozy, private treehouse. With 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full kitchen, laundry, and a hot tub, it’s a peaceful base with the best mountain view on the property. Minutes from Bryson City, the Appalachian Trail, rafting, mountain biking, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park—this hidden gem is perfect for families or small groups craving beauty and quiet. See our full property listing for large groups. The space The Hideout is the coziest of our homes at Hideaway Point, simple, peaceful, and surrounded by trees. The back porch is high above the ground and looks through the trees with the best Smoky Mountain view. Enjoy the early morning sunset or late evening starlit sky, from the hot tub on the porch. Inside, there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with a full kitchen, dining area, laundry, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The layout works well for families or small groups. The Hideout backs up to the Nantahala National Forest and is just a short drive to Bryson City, the Appalachian Trail, and the Nantahala River. It’s a great spot to come back to after a day outside—quiet, comfortable, and close to everything you came to the mountains for. The Hideout is one of three homes at Hideaway Point. The entire property can be rented for large groups - accommodating up to 32 people. Please see our photos to better understand the unique beauty of our mountain homes. We would love to answer any questions you have about the Hideout or our other two homes at Hideaway Point (The Hostel and The Holiday House and our large group listing called Hideaway Point). Read more about the area below or search to find us and schedule a phone call about the property or area today. ________________________________________ ••• About the area ••• Hideaway Point is tucked into the Nantahala National Forest, just off the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway in the heart of the Nantahala Gorge. We’re ten minutes from downtown Bryson City and minutes from Lake Fontana, the Nantahala River, and Appalachian Trail access. Whether you're into hiking, biking, rafting, zip lining, or fishing—this is a great base for exploring Western North Carolina. --->What’s Nearby Bryson City is a small mountain town with local shops, coffee spots, and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad—offering scenic rides year-round, including the Polar Express in winter. *Deep Creek* is a great place for tubing, hiking, and picnicking. *Oconaluftee River and Islands Park* in Cherokee is perfect for little kids to splash and big kids to do a multi hour float. *White water rafting, zip lining and fly fishing* right down the road in the Nantahala Gorge. *The Appalachian Trail* crosses just up the road at mile marker 133.9 near the Nantahala Outdoor Center—a popular stop for thru-hikers. *Scenic Drives* include the Tail of the Dragon, Mountain Waters Scenic Byway, and the Blue Ridge Parkway (southern entrance is just 30 minutes away). ------------------------------------------------------ ••• Need ideas?••• Our on-site manager, Sarah Wilson, has years of experience in outdoor leadership and is happy to help with questions or local suggestions. You’ll also find lots of helpful info in website or Airbnb Hideaway Point guidebook. Guest access Door code will be provided the day of check-in through the airbnb messaging center. Other things to note Our hospitable groundskeeper Sarah lives at Hideaway Point with her two (well behaved) labradors and an assortment of interesting aquarium pets. Sarah's apartment is attached to the Holiday House (next door to the Hostel - see aerial map). She is a wonderful resource in our Bryson City community - a curious learner, who loves the outdoors and education in experiential contexts. Sarah is available through the airbnb messaging app. We are thankful for the value she adds to our Hideaway Point team. The Hostel is one of three homes that are nicely spaced out on the Hideaway Point property (see aerial map on photos). We have a (gradual slope) gravel road with easy access during the winter. Lots of parking (see photos). ** Important note ** there is a short walk on a gravel path through the trees to the front door. We think this feature adds a lot of charm to the house, but it is important to note for accessibility. The Hideout (like all of the kitchens at Hideaway Point) is well stocked with tools you will need to prepare almost any meal. None of our Hideaway Point kitchens are stocked with baking needs, condiments, oils or spices. All of our bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner & body soap dispensers. We are a proud supporter of eco-friendly brand “who gives a crap” toilet paper. Cell service can be spotty depending on your provider. Verizon works well. Googl GPS is accurate while WAZE often leads guests to the wrong address.
