The space We are offering a quiet room with views of vegetable gardens, bird feeders, a small woods, and a pollinator garden. A small ecology library and superb classical music collection are there for our guest to enjoy. The bedroom features a new Thuma bed and Nectar mattress with crisp linen sheets. It has a brand new memory foam mattress and crisp linens. There is a desk in front of the window that looks directly over the gardens. The guest is invited to shared use of this immaculate home, the small library, music collection, meditation room, reading areas, gardens, kitchen, patio and bathroom. We enjoy this area for its solitude, quiet and rest. The sounds of birds, a stream, and hens in the back of the garden make this a restful place to stay. The room is very quiet. You are welcome to use the meditation/yoga room, all set up for Zazen, Pilates and yoga. You will be sharing a bathroom with one or two other residents. The kitchen is strictly vegetarian. For those looking for a longer stay, this room is completely furnished down to the sheets and towels and so there is not room for additional furnishings. It is perfect for a visiting scholar. Arrive with a suitcase. Guest access You will have shared access to the entire home -- our library, gardens, patio, meditation room and basic use of the kitchen where you can prepare simple vegetarian meals. There is no microwave, but excellent cookware for preparing food. You will have off-street parking. Please avoid requests for after hours arrivals unless absolutely unavoidable. They are very difficult to accommodate and do disturb the household. We ask that you coordinate with us about arrival, as it is important that we be here to let you in and orient you to the space. Early luggage drop off is OK on the day of your arrival. During your stay One of us will check you in and orient you and then leave you in quiet to enjoy your stay. You will interact with the other two residents, and the bath is shared and we ask that you be respectful of all who live here. Please avoid late night arrival requests. This is a quiet neighborhood with no streetlights and it is dark. We have quiet hours from 9 pm until 8 am. During this time, refrain from phone conversations in the main part of the house or moving around and making noise. (We get up early and go to bed early.)This is a small working sustainable urban farm and so we get up with the sun most days. You are welcome to enjoy the farm grounds and learn about urban farming with us! We share a driveway with 16 Muriel Street and you will arrive at 16 Muriel Street and we will show you where to park. There is no self check in option in the winter months. In the winter, this driveway is snowy and long and if you want off street parking, you need snow tires. You will have to cross a path and a bridge to get to the house. It is lovely and romantic, but in snowy, wintery weather it can be slippery. Check in after 8 PM in the winter time is very strongly discouraged. Again, it is dark, and we gt up very early. Other things to note We are a short walk to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This room features a brand new Thuma SINGLE bed. This is a strictly vegetarian home, so we ask that you be respectful of this. We are happy to suggest nearby excellent meat restaurants. Use of the laundry is restricted to guests staying four nights or longer. We ask that you be conscientious of lights when you leave a room and water usage when you shower. Please avoid requests for late night arrivals as this is a neighborhood without street lights and it is dark. (We also go to bed early.)
