An independent family room at Kaaya, a village home run by local women near Dehradun. A double bed below and a mezzanine above, reached by internal stairs, where children sleep on floor beds. No AC; the earth walls keep it naturally cool and a fan is enough. Guest access You'll have your own room, and share the rest of Kaaya with other guests and the team: a living lounge and library, open dining space, sit-outs, a small dip pool (open in summer), a play area, a potter's corner, board games and the kitchen garden. Kaaya Nature Café is on campus for all meals. During your stay Kaaya is run by a small team of women from the village, with Manju at its heart, so someone is always around. We'll welcome you when you arrive, show you around, and help with meals, walks or anything you need. There's usually something happening in the day, mud building, gardening or farming, and you're welcome to join in. It's informal; guests usually feel at home here. Other things to note Kaaya is a rustic mud-built home in a village, not a hotel. There's no AC or TV; the mud walls keep rooms naturally cool, and heaters and blankets are there in winter. Meals aren't included: breakfast for staying guests, and lunch and dinner, are at our café (please pre-order). Every guest needs a valid government photo ID at check-in; foreign guests, a passport and visa. Children under 3 stay free. Check-in is usually from 11 AM and check-out by 10:30 AM, but tell us your plans and we'll try to adjust. Please bring toiletries, comfortable shoes, a torch and mosquito repellent. Mobile signal can be patchy; Wi-Fi is available. The village is quiet and cabs are scarce, so plan your travel ahead.
