Enjoy our spacious guest suite, perfect for a getaway or long-term stay. It features a comfy bed, kitchenette, laundry, work area, and lots of entertainment options including a pool table, darts, and games. Located in the heart of Shawnigan Lake, we’re close to beaches, parks, and just a 10-minute walk to the village's charming bakery & coffee shop, food options, and amenities. The space Our house is located on a small hill in the beautiful quaint village of Shawnigan Lake, renowned for its rugged beauty and its 7-km long lake that provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, and sunbathing in the summer. We are just a short walk from the village center (550m/10 min walk/1 min drive), and several beach access points, including Shawnigan Wharf Park (650m/12 min walk/2 min drive), which offers a designated swimming area, sand beach, and boat launch. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate being close to the famous Kinsol Trestle (7 min drive) and the Old Baldy Mountain trailhead (8 min drive), both offering stunning hiking opportunities. This remote setting means that the sky is free from light pollution, offering an amazing view of the stars at night. Guests may even spot a deer or encounter our frequent resident turkeys and wild rabbits roaming the streets. Shawnigan Lake does offer public transit, and there is even a local bus stop conveniently located right in front of our house. However, having a car is recommended as we live in a fairly remote area where the buses don’t run very frequently. Given that transit options are often limited on the island, we offer pick-up and drop-off services for guests from locations such as the Victoria Airport, ferry terminals in Victoria/Swartz Bay, or Nanaimo for $100 CAD, Mill Bay Ferry for $30 CAD, and other locations. Please pre-arrange this service if needed. Please note that our family lives upstairs, so there might be some noise during the day. We try to be mindful, but it's not always completely quiet. Guest access Enjoy private use of our spacious recreation room, which features a double bed, bedside tables with lamps, closet space, a sofa, a pool table, a dartboard, and a TV equipped with Chromecast and a Google Home Mini. Cozy up by the pellet fireplace and make the space your own! The suite also includes a dining area with basic dishes, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, and a selection of fine teas. A work desk and access to high speed internet is available for those needing to get some work done during their stay. Adjacent to the room is a private bathroom with a shower (no bathtub). You'll have access to a shared laundry room equipped with a washer and dryer, as well as a small kitchenette featuring a microwave, mini-fridge, hot plate, and toaster oven. Upon advance request, you may also enjoy our outdoor spaces, which include a playhouse for kids and a trampoline (use at your own risk). Please note that while we have a lovely cat, we prefer to keep him out of the main suite area. During your stay We are a friendly down-to-earth married couple with two sweet young girls. We will generally leave you to enjoy the space to yourselves; however, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Other things to note Check-in/check-out times are flexible; however, please let us know what time you are planning on arriving/leaving so we can coordinate accordingly. The private guest suite and adjacent bathroom and kitchenette are located in the basement, which involves taking a short flight of stairs.
