I recommend trails and charming places in the area on my blog. Other things to note Casa El Descanso is located in Valdecabras, a small village with few inhabitants, and located within the Serrania de Cuenca Natural Park, 16 km from Cuenca, a World Heritage City and 9 km from the Enchanted City, a natural museum of great geomorphological beauty, where you can discover whimsical formations of singular beauty, labyrinths, alleys, chasms, tufa, arches, fossil outcrops and numerous caves. Valdecabras is the ideal place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of cities and find tranquility and peace, combining leisure with activities in nature, hiking, cycling, photography, meditation, relaxation, excursions and visits to emblematic places of the Serranía Conquense. Enjoy its zoological and botanical diversity, the flight of the griffon vulture, the booted eagle or the Egyptian vulture, and at night you can hear the nightingale, the little owl or the frogs sing, and enjoy the bellowing in autumn. What to visit in Valdecabras and surroundings. The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of Valdecabras. The portal consists of a semicircular arch with long voussoirs, without an impost under the porch with ogee arches between eight-pointed bands. The interior is structured in a nave, divided by a pointed triumphal arch on pilasters of half-rounds and baquets on the sides at the height of the capital, where the rib of corbels with balls and others grooved begins; in this way, the main chapel is given way, which is of exposed masonry and with a vault of terceletes and medallions at the intersection of the nerves with shields of the Albornoz and Carrillo. Buenache de la Sierra. Located in the heart of the Serranía de Cuenca. You don't have to go far from Buenache to find the Natural Monument of Tierramuerta and the Palancares, of karstic origin and singular beauty, which offers us the possibility of hiking and, surprisingly, finding pieces of history at every step. And it is that in the set of Tierramuerta and the Palancares we find the paleontological site of Las Hoyas, of great scientific importance for the fossils that are there. Villalba de la Sierra The village forms a set of ancient buildings accompanied by an exceptional natural setting. Near the town are the Ciudad Encantada, the Ventano del Diablo and El Cambrón, an authentic ecological reserve. There are many activities that can be done in Villalba; you can fish for trout in the Júcar or enjoy adventure sports such as quads, hiking, paragliding, microlight flight, horseback riding, canyoning along the Júcar River, etc. Also in autumn the area is full of mushrooms. The source of the Cuervo River, which rises next to the town of Vega del Codorno, specifically on the western slope of the Muela de San Felipe, at an altitude of about 1490 meters. The source of the Cuervo River was declared a Natural Monument in 1999 and occupies an area of 1,709 hectares. In this place, the water springs from a travertine spring and runs through huge stalactites of calcareous rock (tuff) covered with moss, forming long and beautiful streams that freeze in winter, offering a beautiful picture photographed thousands of times each year.
