Description
Cosy, beautifully decorated cottage near the Jurassic coast. Nestling in beautiful woodland just outside the market town of Wareham is our delightful, detached 3 double bedroom cottage with wonderful family kitchen, wood burner and half acre garden. It’s the perfect place for a cozy winter break, Perfect for couples, or for a family to enjoy a tranquil break on the on the Isle of Purbeck. Full of original character, the 145-year-old cottage has been renovated and extended into a wonderful home. The space Once a farm workers cottage, and originally part the Trigon Estate in which it’s situated, East Cottage sits at the end of a small country track. Built in approximately 1880, it has since been extended and modernised to provide you with every mod con you would expect in a comfortable holiday home. At the same time it retains much of the original character, with reclaimed flooring and a wood burner in the main living space. The south facing garden is expansive (over half an acre) with plenty of space to kick a football around, or more likely sit back and enjoy a glass of wine, while watching the sunset over the trees. There is a large patio with chunky wooden table, benches and a BBQ, perfect for making the most of sunny weather. Coming inside, there’s plenty of space to leave muddy wellies in the reception hall, with the utility room and downstairs loo just off to one side. This includes a shower, toilet and washing machine, as well as plenty of space to hang up your coats and outside gear. The hall leads through to a spacious lounge which stretches from the front to the back of the building and features a large wood burning stove. A comfy room to sit back and relax after a long walk or bike ride through Wareham Forest (which is on the doorstep), with French doors leading straight out into the garden. The reclaimed floorboards and ledge & brace doors add to the character in this room. You then come through into the second reception room, which is open on the other side to the Kitchen/Diner, making it perfect for the kids to play while the adults cook, chat and enjoy a cup of tea (or a glass of wine!). There’s also another set of French doors leading straight to the garden. The open plan kitchen/diner sits in the extended part of the cottage and was fitted from scratch in 2016. It therefore has everything you could need; a range cooker, super-sized fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher and, of course, a big family dining table for everyone to enjoy breakfast and dinner together. Upstairs there are three spacious double bedrooms. The Master bedroom features a king size bed and plenty of built in wardrobe space. Next there is the middle bedroom, which has a comfy double bed, and finally the third bedroom, which has two singles and the full size cot. All of the beds will be made up with fresh linen ready for a great night’s sleep. Bath Towels are supplied too. Also upstairs, the newly-fitted family bathroom has an oversized shower cubical ideal for hosing down sandy children after a fun-filled day at the beach, as well as a bath for the grown ups to relax in after they’ve gone to bed! Guest access You'll have free run of the whole place, including the massive garden. There is space to park up to four cars easily. It’s worth noting that the access track is bumpy in places - while all cars should manage it absolutely fine, remember to take it slowly! There is a key safe to let yourself in. If you have any problems during your stay we are only a phone call away and as we live locally we will be able to help you out quickly. Other things to note You might hear the odd night time noise from the deer, foxes, badgers and other woodland creatures who share our outside space. We also can't promise the garden won't be without the odd mole hole or two. We do not have terrestrial TV - the compact TV in the lounge has smart features and allows streaming through WiFi (please sign in to your own Netflix / BBC iPlayer etc). The Wifi signal is generally strong enough to stream programmes in high quality, but please be mindful that the property is some distance from the exchange, and internet speed cannot be guaranteed as this is beyond our control. We hope you'll enjoy the peace and quiet and many of our guests chose to play games or read rather than watching TV. We have allowed parts of the garden to remain wild, in-keeping with its location. This means you might encounter some stinging nettles away from the main lawn and patio space. Whilst most of the garden is fenced, some areas are open so please keep dogs (and children) who are prone to exploring close to hand.
