Charming room with a view in Brixton/Stockwell SW9

You’ll love traditional house, b 1842, south of the Thames, if you want a homely stay with friendly people & a sweet cat. The house is in zone2 inner city, fronts a main road and backs our garden. This room, with views of roofs and gardens, is clean, cosy and tranquil. It's perfect for one person. There are buses and a hire cycle hire right on our door step and three underground stations within 15 minutes walk. Free car parking is available in private drive. The space This a five story non-smoking home with a piano playing cat and resident host/owner Lena. Co-host Daniel resides in the self-contained quarters in the lower ground floor of the house. Your charming room is on the top of the house with views of the neighbouring gardens and roof tops. There are many steps to climb to get up to the room which is on the third floor, so if you have mobility issues contact Lena before booking to find out more. Our cosy space is ideal for one person with one comfortable single bed. The bathroom is shared and is situated on the floor just beneath your room. It comes with a shower, bath tub, toilet and a washing machine. There is also a WC in the garden vestibule. If you wish to smoke or just need some fresh air, you’re welcome to use the garden out back, and enjoy the tranquil little pond. There is always complimentary coffee and tea available ‘round the clock on the floor of the AirBnB room. The house is 150 years old with some original features and has a quirky old-fashioned atmosphere. If you prefer new built minimalistic spaces with the latest in design, this house is probably not quite right for you. If you are looking for a rustic, clean and authentic home away from home, look no further—you’ve found it. Free car parking in our private drive is included in the price by prior arrangements. There are plenty of buses just outside the front door to central London, Santander hire cycles nearby, and 12-15 minutes walk to the nearest underground stations Oval, Brixton or Stockwell. Guest access As our guest you may use the kitchen and if the weather allows, sit and listen to the birds in the garden with a glass of something nice. The bathroom is on the second floor, one floor below your AirBnB room, and there is an additional old-fashioned, pull-chain WC in the garden vestibule on the ground floor. There are coffee/tea making facilities with a small fridge just outside your room. The first floor of the building is private living quarters for the host. The lockbox is only used upon arrival if we are not at home. Please expect the cat to be present in all communal areas including the kitchen, dining room and might visit you if your door is open. During your stay Guests are very welcome with any queries and we are normally available on mobile. There is a marvellous, not to mention award-winning beer pub less than five minutes away called the Crown and Anchor where we occasionally go for a proper British ale. This house is a friendly adult family home rather than a hotel. The house can be lively particularly around holiday times when our family and friends are visiting but generally it is quite quiet. Whenever you visit us we sincerely hope you will feel at home and relaxed staying with us! Other things to note We are an environmentally aware household aiming to be plastic free by the end of the year, and we invite you to help while you’re staying with us. Low-carbon travellers i.e. guests travelling to London from Europe or beyond by bus, train or push bike, will get 15% off their stay with us upon arrival if showing their tickets as proof of environmental travelling. AirBnB guests are not allowed to bring their own visitors, neither day or night time. Please ensure you are aware our location is in travel zone 2, the house is on a main road and there is 12 minutes to nearest underground. These factors reflected in the price. The centre of Brixton with shops, restaurants, bars and a market are 10 minutes away by foot. There is one pet, a cat called Anderson living in the home. She is a very loved family member and she is allowed in all communal areas including the kitchen and dining area. She may visit your room if you leave your door open. There is a cat tray in the main bathroom. Our cleaner cleans the whole house including the AirBnB room once a week. A clean sets of bed linen and towels are provided weekly per each guest, unless more is requested. Guests are expected to tidy and clean up immediately after usage in communal areas such as the kitchen and bathroom. As from December 2022 we are only letting this cosy room for one person.
