This charming mountain farmhouse in Suches, the Valley Above the Clouds, has expansive views of a 40-acre horse farm surrounded by the mountains of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The house was built in the early 50’s and has been updated with heart pine floors, a newly renovated bathroom and clean cottage chic décor. It is in one of the premier areas in North Georgia for hiking, fishing and cycling. Wifi provided by Blue Ridge Mountain EMC at 250 Mbps. UCSTR License # is 004766. The space The large eat-in kitchen has a farmhouse table and is equipped with a gas stove and everything needed to make amazing meals. The living room, with a wood burning fireplace and tons of natural light, is a wonderful space to gather and relax. The best part of the house is the porch with a large dining table, rocking chairs and one of the best views in Suches. From here, you can watch the sun and moon rise, the horses gallop and the hummingbirds flutter. The porch is the most popular place to be! Start or end your day in the rustic outdoor shower with the sun on your face and the sky above your head. The large grassy yard has all the space you need to play any games you like. After the sun sets, gather around the fire pit and make s’mores. The stargazing can be exceptional and the sounds of nature are never far away. With the Suches Bike Inn as headquarters, the sky is the limit for outdoor activities and recreation. From the house, a short walk to a trail leads to the Appalachian Trail at Miller Gap, between Woody Gap (2.6 miles) and Blood Mountain/Neel Gap (8.1 miles). From Miller Gap, you can also hike to Dockery Lake (3.4 miles), a small lake just off Hwy. 60. There are several other scenic day hikes in the Suches area, all starting within about 3 miles of the house. If cycling is your passion, you are in one of the most desirable areas to ride a bike in Georgia and the Southeast, be it road, gravel or mountain bike. The house is located on the well-known Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty route held in September. Book a stay and train for this event from the house or just watch the cyclists ride by every day. Gravel riding and mountain bike riding are also popular in the Suches area. Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area and Vogel State Park have beautiful mountain lakes and are both located just a few miles north of the Suches Bike Inn on Hwy 180. Swimming and fishing are popular activities at both parks. There are also many beautiful waterfalls in the area, including Helton Creek Falls, close to Vogel State Park. Finally, the nearby Toccoa River north of Suches on Hwy 60 is considered by many to be the best trout fishing spot in all of Georgia. Make sure you stock up on food, beverages, supplies before you arrive. The closest Grocery Store is around 25 minutes in Dahlonega or 30 minutes away in Blue Ridge. COVID-19 SANITIZATION Heath, safety, and wellbeing of our guests are of utmost importance to us. For this reason, we use a thorough and extensive process of cleaning after each check-out. MOUNTAIN SERVICES: We’re in a monthly pest control program. However, the cabin is in a wooded area that is still largely wilderness, so bugs and wild animals cannot be 100% prevented. Internet/water/electricity: we have no control over the service availability. Outages are rare but do happen more often in these mountain areas. We are using AT&T 4G internet service (no fiber internet available in the area yet), which can only support light web surfing. Phone reception is spotty in the area.
