Description
Our classic 1970s A-Frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers. Arnold has a small town feel and is perfect for a weekend getaway or as a base for your adventures in the Sierras. There's lots to explore w/ Calaveras Big Trees SP and Stanislaus Forest minutes away, alpine lakes, swimming, skiing, and wine tasting, or just relax at the cabin and take in the view. The space We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway. The cabin is on a small parcel in a quiet neighborhood. It's tucked away up on a hill but close to town (a great grocery store is conveniently 5 minutes away). We're a 5-minute walk to hiking in Stanislaus National Forest and Arnold Rim Trail (we have a custom map for nearby hikes), 10-minute drive to Big Trees State Park, 15 minutes to the town of Murphys (great wineries, pubs and dining), 40 minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort, 10 minutes to White Pines Lake, 25 minutes to Mercer Caverns, 45 minutes to Lake Alpine. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re ~2 hours to Yosemite (Big Oak Flat entrance), and 2.5 hours to Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 (only in warmer months). The cabin fits up to 4 adults, with 1 bedroom and a loft sleeping area with its own half bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a Queen mattress, and the loft has a Full mattress. We also can leave out a pack n' play upon request. We've gone without TV or landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls through your cell. We have a bluetooth speaker and loads of board games and puzzles. The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper. Help yourself to coffee and tea! There is no AC, television, landline phone, or microwave. There is no cell reception throughout the Sierras except for Verizon. We make calls on our cell through WiFi (enable through your phone's settings). If there is snow, guests may need to shovel the area around their car and the walkway leading up to the door. We will have the parking pad plowed and shovels available. If you have severe pet allergies, this rental would not be a good fit as we have the occasional dog guest. We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months. Guest access You will have full access to the cabin and decks. We ask that you avoid walking around the parcel as it's undergoing some rehabilitation (there is hiking nearby however). Other things to note Trash and recycling should be taken home with you or brought to the nearby dump upon checkout. If you want to leave the trash where it is upon checkout, removal is +$25 (all goes towards our cleaner). Like many cabins in the area, there is no air conditioning. This isn't an issue for us since we're usually out and about at the hottest time of day. There is a rhythm to keeping the cabin cool in the summertime and the cabin will cool off in the evening. In the winter months, the cabin is heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove). We also have extra blankets and radiant space heaters. The warmest spot to sleep is the loft, which stays about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of cabin. There is typically a 3-night stay minimum over holiday weekends (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Labor Day etc). We use a professional cleaning service to prepare the cabin before your arrival. Bed linens and towels are included! Cell service is unreliable except for Verizon. You can borrow the sled and snowshoes which are stored in the outdoor closet where the lockbox is located. The loft, open tread staircase, and blinds with cords may be unsafe for young children.
