Enjoy nature walks, spend lake time with friends or just relax taking in the amazingly beautiful views, hot tub and amenities. This truly is our happy place. The space 10 acres of lake front privacy with one queen bed master, one twin full bedroom and a loft with two full mattresses that is ideal for 4 kids or two adults. Two porches with magnificent views plus hot tub, games and outside grill. The water front has a dock, stone-dirt beach and swim area, two fire pitts and plenty of nature. A boat can be launched within our property or at the nearby TN State Park - Turkey Creek Boat Dock. Guest access When you arrive it looks like a sud-division until you reach the cul-da-sac at the end of Overlook Drive, which starts to take you towards this special place. Look for our steel gate into this 10 acres of private lake front woods that is attached to over 2000 acres of state park to the south that is also lake front. Proceed down the steep hill and turn in front of the cabin. We have a very steep gravel hill coming up to the cabin when you are in our valley. Always have “good speed & momentum” when you come up that cabin hill making sure you avoid stopping on the hill and reaccelerating because some cars won’t make it up, so don’t stop on the hill because you’ll likely spin-out, resulting in having to back down and retry. Six cars can park at the top of that hill so there’s a lot of room…..just accelerate before you go up it. The most reliable way is to drive up it is to go to our garage by the lake - turn around - and get a “straight shot” up the hill accelerating from the garage area. About 4-6 cars can park on the far side of the cabin to unload. ENTER CABIN AT THE BACK - that’s where you find the key code pad on the door. It is also easier to load and unload there into the kitchen and cabin. If you love fluffy comforters on your bed - bring your own - we just offer sheets and one blanket on each bed. The HVAC is wonderful and controls the space well. Other things to note If you arrive at night - we suggest you have a flashlight. It can be very dark when arriving. ENTER CABIN ON THE BACK SIDE PORCH - that’s where the key code pad is located on the back door’s knob. The outside-only video surveillance system will whistle at you when its armed, disregard that. Just enter cabin through the hillside back-deck door. (Not the porch - lake side) Using your door code turns off the alarm and unlocks the door. If you leave and lock the door then the alarm reengages turning it back on - therefore the cameras will whistle at you again. The whistle is supposed to deter people that do not belong there. Of course, you belong - so it “whistles” for everyone’s safety. At arrival outside lights can be turned on inside the back door on wall to right, and also at the grill’s outside post and the string lights across the back turn on inside the back screen door near the hot tub, at the far end of back porch. There is no video surveillance inside the cabin whatsoever. It only watches outside doors and people approaching the cabin. Cell phone use can be “sketchy” in our Valley so connect to our robust WiFi. It’s a 300-500 megabyte line; change your cell phone to WiFi calling and then turn off cellular data use for optimal phone calls. Notably, using iPhone “FaceTime Calling” is very reliable if your calls break-up. Non-iPhone users are better off with WiFi calling and cellular calls turned off. The best place to use cellular data is on the front porch or near the lake. The worst place for cellular calls is in the house or near the back porch and hillside. There are two WiFi access points. Both have the same password. The “ living-room-access-point “ (that’s the name of it) works better there, in kitchen/dining room and for entry side of cabin and DodsonValleywifi works best on screened porch side. The LOG-cabin walls reduce the WiFi signal way more than normal homes so it’s better to connect to the right access point. Do not roast s’mores over the inside fireplaces. Only use outside fires. Do not leave outside fires burning unattended. Inside fireplaces have timers to the side of chimney to light them automatically. If the pilot is out - twist knob to pilot setting. Push the knob in - and hold it. Click the black starter button to right 2-4 times - still holding the pilot knob in. Wait 10-20 secs holding pilot knob IN - then turn knob to ON. Confirm pilot is lit. You can hear and likely see it burning. Finally, Light fireplace with timer on wall. There’s extra dry firewood for the outside fire pits in the garage. Use the floats and small fishing boat if you wish that’s also in the garage. EXTRA PROPANE IS LOCATED IN THE TRASH CAGE MIDDLE COMPARTMENT. NEVER LEAVE TRASH OUTSIDE. ALWAYS PLACE TRASH IN THE CAGED AREA. Animals will attack trash and food in minutes if it’s left outside. PREPARING FOR DEPARTURE: Check out time is 10 AM. The house cleaner will likely show-up at that time. Load dishwasher and run it. Adjust the selection light to the “coffee cup” - add soap packet - close door and press Start (looks like a PLAY music symbol). If there is H:## displayed scroll the number past 24 to zero for H:00 = “zero hours delayed start” and close door and press start. It should start immediately. If not - it’s not set properly. Double and triple check everywhere before you leave - FOR YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS you may have left on the porches, in bathrooms, in the loft - outside at lake, fire pit or in the house. Empty refrigerator - free of everything. Take it all or throw it out. Please make sure grill and stove-oven are cleaned - especially if it got messy. Remove trash and place it in the large trash cage in the driveway, placed in a covered bin. NEVER leave bags of trash outside - even for brief periods - on the deck or ground. Critters will make a mess in minutes if you do. Strip sheets and blankets off all the beds and set on floor near washer and dryer. Hang wet towels on hooks under loft stairs. If you used life jackets and they are WET then leave them on kayaks to dry. Not piled up to get smelly/moldy. Lock back door by hitting lock button on the keypad. When you leave close and lock the steel gate. NOTE: put the Master lock through the brass key lock on the chain so that someone could open the gate by opening the brass key lock too.
