Set down a quiet, no-through country lane with views of Glastonbury Tor, Pear Cottage is the ideal place to get away from it all. The cottage, which is all on one floor, was converted from stables, and offers two double bedrooms, a luxurious bathroom and open plan living space and kitchen. Large bifold doors look out on to the enclosed private garden, with lawn area and dining space. The miles of winding country lanes are great for cycling, and there is secure undercover bike storage available. The space The living area features a corner sofa plus comfy armchair, perfect for snuggling up with a good book. There is a wall mounted flat screen smart TV along with new, improved wifi. The dining table overlooks the garden, where you are likely to spot a variety of birds including wood peckers and starlings, whose murmurations can be spotted overhead as they return to nearby nature reserves to nest. There is a king size bed in one of the bedrooms and a standard double in the other. The bathroom has a rain shower head over the bath and includes a heated towel rail. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, kettle and cafetière. The garden is enclosed and dog proof, with a lawn and patio with outdoor sofa and armchair that seats up to four people, fire pit and BBQ. There is a parking space for one car on the gated driveway of the main house. Guest access The village of Barton St David is situated right in the heart of Somerset, making it an ideal base to explore everything this beautiful county has to offer. The mystical town of Glastonbury is just four miles away, with views of the Tor from the lane outside the cottage and around much of the village. The market town of Castle Cary is just a 15 minute drive; fashionable Bruton is 20 minutes away, while you can be in Frome in a little over half an hour. The village itself boasts a quirky pub, The Barton Inn, where you can enjoy a pint of local cider in the sunny courtyard out back and also have a meal. Other things to note We welcome up to two well behaved dogs but ask that you do not let them in the bedrooms. We charge a £20 fee for extra cleaning for those who bring dogs.
