Vintage crib; cosy, comfy cottage close to town.

The Crib at Karitane was built in the early 20th century for the villages boat builder. Recently refurbished from the ground up, the cottage is now a comfortable, well-appointed retreat only 30 minutes from Dunedin, boasting gorgeous water views and good proximity to interesting walks and the beautiful Karitane beach. Suitable for couples or Girls Weekends. No kids under 16, and no pets thanks. The space The Crib has been described as "small but perfectly formed". In keeping with the age of the building, it houses the owners life-long collection of vintage furniture and effects which, for many guests, takes them on a delightful trip down memory lane. But for those whose last sighting of a candlewick bedspread and plastic cane chairs also involved musty bed-linen and doing endless dishes by hand, fear not ! This Crib is the owners place of relaxation, so features all mod-cons (think dishwasher, electric blankets, heated towels rails...). Guest access The Crib has a carport and driveway parking for 2 cars, and ample parking on the street. There is one step up into the house off the front verandah, and 3 steps off the deck at the back. The eclectic corner store (which also does pizzas and baked goods at the weekend, and coffee) is a ten minute walk away. The river is just across the road, and the beach is a 12 minute walk / 2 minute drive. Other things to note The Crib is not some anonymous, de-personalised rental; it is our holiday home, and so you will find a fully stocked larder and some of our personal effects. You are welcome to help yourself to staples in the kitchen and bathroon, but please respect our stuff and don't disrespect the fact that we are sharing our home with you. Thanks.
