RECOMMENDED FOR: A refreshing jungle vacation, couples looking for privacy, a family wanting to get back in touch with nature, artists, students writing papers - digital detox! Bird and wildlife enthusiasts, potential life change, come see if off-grid living is for you (other residents do live on the property). A comfortable base while exploring the Osa Peninsula / Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, known as a world premier rainforest destination dubbed one of the most biologically intense places on earth by National Geographic. The pristine peninsula is bound on the northwest by Drake Bay, on the west by the Pacific Ocean, and on the east by the Golfo Dulce. The Osa Peninsula offers breathtaking, untouched scenery, secluded beaches, and abundant wildlife encompassing lush primary rainforest and a complex system of freshwater and marine resources. Guest access Home is prepared for arrival and a time will be arranged beforehand to meet in the community car park. From there, you will be escorted to my home (about a 30min hike), please note that a river will need to be crossed on foot. As I do not live in-country, the community will be assisting me, you will be able to ask your questions directly to them once a booking is confirmed. I highly recommend bringing boots or at the very least, close toed shoes - you are coming to a jungle in one of the most diverse regions in the world. The river can be dangerous to cross during or shortly after a rain, in heavy rains it will be impossible. In this scenario please use basecamp to cross as the path there has a bridge. It will be pointed out to you during your walkout. Please note that basecamp is private property and permission to use the bridge has been granted for emergencies only. If you are uncomfortable being alone in the jungle or do not like wildlife and insects then this place is not for you. The experience can best be described as Glamping. Other things to note IS FINCA BELLAVISTA RIGHT FOR ME? No, it's the jungle silly! Only us crazy people live here. This is the furthest place from a resort and you will quite possibly be just as far away from your neighbor. There are no restaurants, shops or staff onsite. Residents and work exchange applicants (when available) do host activities such as complimentary hikes, Tour of Tree homes, BBQ's at the river but this service is separate to the rental and not always guaranteed. WHAT ABOUT COVID-19 What about it - social distancing is not an issue here. Residents' lives didn't change one bit (other than they grew more stuff to eat). If anything, their lifestyle choice was reinforced and while sympathetic with the world, they appreciated their everyday lives even more. If you are looking for a vacation without having to be reminded about the pandemic - then this is the perfect place! WHY ARE ONLY A HANDFUL OF RENTALS AVAILABLE AT FINCA BELLAVISTA? Sadly, the former property management company shut down in early 2020. As the homes are privately owned, a selection of owners have got together to offer rentals privately in order to keep the spirit of Finca Bellavista alive and some of the previous employees with work (they offer services independently). Almost all employees have worked at least a decade at the community and no one knows the property better. HOW DO WE ASK QUESTIONS OR FIND OUT MORE INFO? Once the booking is confirmed, guests can contact the host directly through Airbnb to answer any questions you may have.
