This basement suite is just blocks from campus, grocery stores, bars, and restaurants. The space features a private bathroom, a simple kitchenette type space, a new washer/dryer, 60" 4K smart TV, printer, and super fast wifi! Private entrance lets you enter/exit at any hour and excellent soundproofing keeps the bedroom super quiet. I would like long term bookings (multiple months). If you have a car I charge $75/mo for parking. New April 2021: this home has a completely new heating and cooling system with an ionizing filtration system similar to what is used in hospitals (and proven to kill COVID). This basement suite is a fantastic space. It has a 200sqft bedroom, a private bathroom , and a hall/foyer area that includes a simple kitchenette area. The kitchenette space has a full-size fridge/freezer, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker, etc... that are for your exclusive use. There is also an LG combination washer/dryer, so you have your own personal laundry machine just outside the bedroom. The bedroom has exceptional soundproofing and if you like music and movies you will appreciate the full 7.1.2 surround sound system. The 60" 4K smart TV is setup with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. There is also a Blu-ray player and you can connect your laptop with an hdmi cable (supplied) or cast video from your smart device. We have blazing fast WiFi so you can stream all you want. The basement has a dedicated WiFi access point on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz (802.11AC) bands. There is a duplex printer/scanner/copier in the room that you are welcome to use. The house has central air heating and cooling and stays very comfortable year round. The basement floor can be a little cold if you are barefoot. You are welcome to open/close the HVAC supply registers in the basement to your liking. We keep a HEPA air purifier in the bedroom and you're welcome to turn it off or turn it up in case you want some white noise. All of the spaces are very well lit with dimmable LED lighting. You can adjust from bright office mode to barely glowing night lighting. No buzzing, flickering, or heat from the lights. We supply clean towels and bedding, and soap/shampoo/deodorant/toothpaste/etc.... are provided as well but we hope you will only take something if you really need it. The main bedroom has a couch that folds flat into a bed. If you would like to have someone sleep on the couch please inquire about additional bedding/linens. To ensure everything stays clean and sanitary, please do not have anyone sleep on the couch without proper bedding. There is a second bedroom in the basement that is mostly used for storage. One side of the room has shelving and boxes, leaving a 10x10ft space for a twin bed, table, chair, and 40" smart TV. Unless specifically arranged beforehand, the 2nd bedroom is not available for use. Room pricing for 1-2 guests assumes only the main bedroom/bed will be used. If you have more people in your group and/or want to use the fold-out couch, 2nd bedroom, or some other configuration please inquire so we can discuss pricing and arrangements for bedding. Please note that we generally do not accept short bookings as we prefer to have multi-month bookings. You have exclusive use of the basement space. Though I'll plan not to, it is possible that I may need to access the storage/furnace/utility room in the basement sometime during your stay, but I always check with guests ahead of time before entering. I live very close by and am almost always available if you need something. This area of Urbana is about as close as you can get to the university while still enjoying the peace and quiet of the historic neighborhood. We have charming old homes and tall old-growth trees. A few blocks west and you're on campus, a few blocks east and you're in downtown Urbana. What location could possibly be better? There is a bus stop just 1.5 blocks away. But you can pretty easily walk to campus or downtown Urbana. If you'd like to head to downtown Champaign for a night (highly recommended unless you think dozens of bars, microbreweries, and restaurants within a 4 block area serving delicious food and hundreds of different beers is a bad thing) you can also catch a bus there. If you would like to borrow a bicycle during your stay please ask! Uber transportation service is also available in our area. We keep the hot water very hot! Use caution with the sink and shower. We do not do any in-room cleaning during your stay, and we do not, despite the name of the service, supply breakfast. Some of the older reviews below may be confusing because they describe a shared space - this was before we renovated. It is a private space with private entrance. I'll be much more likely to accept your booking inquiry if you mention "blueberry muffins". This will show that you've actually read through my somewhat lengthy description.
