Description
Our modern earth home is a cozy, craftsman-built nest that treats its visitors to light, open space & color. It has a quiet, private setting with everything needed to make your stay comfortable &, hopefully, inspired. The outdoors is this home's other half, creating an enveloping amphitheater of gardens, birds, trees & a hammock. Beyond this private nest are 360 degree views of the Sangre de Christo Mountains, the Rio Grande Gorge, spectacular sunset displays & miles of walking & bike trails. The space This passive solar house was built by us, Abby & Dean, a ceramic artist & woodworker. All of the cabinets, doors & details were made by Dean; the pottery & tile by Abby (our studios are next door & we invite you to visit). The house is loosely based on the Earthship design developed by Taos architect Mike Reynolds. Although it is a rammed earth construction, and built four feet into the ground, it has the modern feel of a contemporary loft. Equipped with new appliances, a full kitchen, a Viking stove, laundry, Roku TV, games & art supples; and although it gets all of its electricity from the sun it is tied into the grid giving you consistent power. Guest access Our guests will have the entire house to themselves, separate parking, their own garden & outdoor patio and complete privacy. Other things to note We, Abby & Dean, live and work next door and we have a young dog named Oki. Oki is incredibly friendly, loves people & will most likely come and say hello while you're here. We love animals and are sorry we've had to make the decision to not allow pets but we felt it was the best situation for us right now.
