Description
The Clifton Camp is a modern rustic cabin and bunkhouse located just 30 minutes outside of Bangor and 50 minutes from Bar Harbor/Acadia. The property is secluded with a large deck with views of the crystal clear lake, as well as private water access with a deck, dock, and canoe. The space A lovely place to experience Maine and explore and unwind. You can start your day by having coffee out on the deck overlooking the lake, walk down to the water to swim, float and paddle around, and end the day grilling out and having a campfire with spectacular stargazing. The space is a renovated post and beam construction cabin and bunkhouse which has the rustic charm of Maine cabins with modern design finishes. Conveniently located near Bangor and Bar Harbor, you get the seclusion of the wilderness while only being 30 minutes from restaurants and shops. In the main cabin, there is a full bed at the top of the stairs, and a master bedroom with a queen bed adjacent to this. Just steps from the front door is the detached bunkhouse, which is equipped with a full bed and a cozy loft area. The space is ideal for a group of friends, two couples and small families. There is a great roadside bakery stand 15 minutes from the cabin called Straw House Bakery. We love to have their pie and grilled bread for breakfast. For great lobster rolls stop in at Jones Lobster Company in Holden or at the Eagle's Nest in Brewer. In Bangor, our favorite place to grab lunch and a drink is Mason's, which is located right on the Penobscot River. Heading towards Bar Harbor, stop in Ellsworth at Provender Kitchen and Bar for delicious food and craft cocktails in a historic New England town. If you're looking for a quick hike with an awesome view check out the Eagle Bluff trail which is 10 minutes from the cabin. You can also grab a Maine fishing license online and fish for lake trout (gear not provided, but canoe with lifejackets are on-site, be sure to check local fishing ordinances). There is wifi that works well for streaming Netflix and other services, so be sure to bring an iPad or laptop if you intend on watching something during your stay. Please note that since it is through a small, local provider it can run slowly if multiple people are using it heavily all at once. Guest access The house has a private parking area that fits multiple vehicles. To access the water you must walk down a short path and a staircase that is fairly steep. If mobility is a concern for you, please consider this prior to booking. Other things to note We have put a lot of love into the space and are excited to share our family vacation home with you. Please treat the space and its belongings with care and respect. While children are welcome to stay at the Clifton Camp, please be aware that there are staircases within the house and down to the water. We also do not have specific safety features geared towards children. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
