Description

Enjoy the spirit of rural Virginia in this antebellum farmhouse retreat. Ingleside is yours to relax and enjoy in total privacy. It's ideal for family gatherings or just getting together with great friends. The space In the gently rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ingleside is on lands that have been in our family for many generations. Here, you can enjoy complete privacy on the east side of the farm, the gorgeous countryside of central Virginia's piedmont region, and the convenience of being near the historic towns of Orange, Gordonsville and Charlottesville. Attractions such as Barboursville Vineyards, James Madison's Montpelier Estate and some excellent restaurants are just minutes away. Ingleside is also convenient for day trips with Charlottesville, UVA, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello all just 20-30 minutes away. Shenendoah National park is 33 minutes away and offers excellent hiking and scenery along the skyline drive. The nine-room Guest House includes, downstairs, the original kitchen with stone-hearth fireplace, dining room, small library, living room with working fireplace, and master bedroom with full bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath. We do not have central air conditioning. Each bedroom has an AC window unit and there are ceiling and floor fans throughout the rest of the house. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house except for a couple of storage areas that are marked as private. The barns and out buildings on this working farm are not for guests. We do, however, have a very large yard where you can relax, play yard games provided and dine al fresco! Other things to note This home is in the country and on a working farm and originally built in 1824. You may find flying insects and ants during certain times of the year so if you are afraid of bugs and/or prefer a pristine environment this would not be a good place for you. Also, regarding steps, there are 2 steps leading up to the front porch, a step down from the living room to the dining room, 2 steps down to the kitchen, 1 step down from the bathroom to the library and stairs going up to the 2nd floor. On the 2nd floor there are 3 bedrooms. The bathroom is between the bedroom with the twin beds and the bedroom with the queen bed. The bedroom with the full size bed does not have direct access to the bathroom. The guest staying in that room has to go through one of the other rooms to get to the bathroom.
