Home in Carrboro
Description
We offer a modern, minimalist, glass/metal home built for a family of six plus three furry pups. It is our full-time house and filled with open space, light, birds, great table for casual family gatherings, games, a ping-pong table, full size pool table and art everywhere. Tucked in very close to downtown Carrboro, on a hill overlooking a small woods, stream and meadow. A 15-minute walk on a wooded lane will land you in downtown Carrboro, and another 10-15 puts you in downtown Chapel Hill. The space Our house is tucked in behind several condos in a hilltop community but faces into the woods giving it a very secluded feeling. While we are close enough to downtown Carrboro/Chapel Hill to walk, it is usually quiet outside and around the neighborhood. Bus lines are We love this house because we feel as though we are living/floating in the trees, part of the outdoors, with a living backdrop in every direction. Birds love our feeders attached to the upper windows and will fly straight over from branches of the same height. It's not uncommon to see deer going through the yard from the woods, or even coming up close to the lower glass doors. It's a fantastic place to cook a big group breakfast and watch the birds, host a dinner and game/movie night, or just watch the trees sway gently. The upstairs space is very open and flexible - you can move around couches, desks, tables, the ping-pong table, etc to suit your mood and what you'd like to do. It's is neither a museum nor spotless vacation home but a working, family home, meant to be lived in and loved. There are spaces for up to 4 cars to park at the end of the gravel driveway, come and go. Another extra 3-5 cars can fit stacked into the driveway but would block it from cars freely coming and going. Guest access You will have access to the entirety of the house, with the exception of 2-3 packed storage rooms. Guests are more than welcome to use our laundry room as well, home to the washer and dryer, but should be aware it doubles as a large storage room and pantry and is not as organized as the rest of the house. Other things to note We are pet friendly and 3 furry dogs regularly inhabit the house. Be aware that we have encountered and appreciate the same critters you would find in any wooded area with a stream in North Carolina (deer, spiders, opossums, raccoons, foxes, large wood bugs, groundhogs, ants, turtles, snakes). Note: we have seen coyotes go past the house along the creek! Our home is not a dedicated Airbnb rental and is lived in by us most of the time.
