Elena'S Mansard (Old bachelor auberge)
Description
Attention, gentlemen!!! Snowdrops?!! Only here! Here and now! They are blooming! In the park under the spruce trees, at the parking lot, at the entrance to the apartment, just behind the gate. A miracle happens every year strictly from February 7. These delicate and seemingly defenseless flowers are not afraid of even 20 degrees of frost. See photo. Welcome to the land where snowdrops awoke. You can now see them all around here. Just take a look! Flowers of Mystery under your feet! Sirs and Mesdames, snowdrops are in bloom even when it is -20 C. The space An unusual, if not strange, space recreated from the sketches of a retired infantry captain. Glass partitions, glass floors, mirror surfaces bring us back to the idea of the fragility of existence. The bathroom and toilet here are not separated from the bed. Nothing but transparent glass. This is not a saving on drywall. It's such a concept. Only here you can watch TV with your back to it* - the screen will be reflected in the nearest glass. The light here changes with the course of the sun. You may suddenly feel like you're inside a sundial stealing time from your life. If you turn off the lights in the Jacuzzi at night, you will see clouds floating in the window above you **. In the morning - and this is a special privilege, as soon as you open your eyes you will see a chimney above you, and on it a crow - a representative of civilization, undoubtedly alien and as irresistible as time and old age. And finally, if somewhere in the intricate corners of the attic you come across a speck, a speck of dust, etc., it means the spirit of the old bachelor still lives in this house. Remember, this is a place for fantasies – don't look for dirt here. * - if the owner paid for electricity on time. ** - if the sky is not hopelessly overcast*** with clouds. *** I don't know if there is such a word in Russian and if I wrote it correctly. Other things to note The hotel is located in a private gated park area. Here you will find privacy and quiet. The name of the district and street is French, which is not typical for Latvia, a country where the German spirit lives in every stone and alley of Old Riga. The place where the hotel stands is distinguished by a special aura, relaxing, I would say, lulling. The fact is that 300-400 years ago, Riga residents chose these places for the construction of country houses. And the art of arranging a country space came from France and was called "champêtre", which means a house in the village, and as an adjective – "rural". Here the root "champ" - of course means - field. From here, words like champagne or champignons came into Russian. By the way, snowdrops remained here from the previous inhabitants. They're everywhere. You'll find them right at the doorstep of the house. Every year on February 14th, they begin to bloom. And even 20-degree frosts can't stop them. So, to the Old Riga - 7 minutes by car. Jurmala is 15 minutes by car and 30 minutes by bicycle along a scenic bike path. The American Embassy is a 10-minute relaxing walk. If you have enough strength to walk another couple of hundred meters, you will see the Spica shopping center. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and everything that accompanies them. If, for example, you want to keep your beloved busy with something – so that she forgets about your presence for at least half a day – this is the place. The airport is 5 minutes by taxi.
