Coastguard Cottage, Prawle Point - the most southerly point of Devon - is set on a coastline of outstanding natural beauty with stunning views over the sea and countryside. A cosy and contemporary home for families, friends and couples. It overlooks National Trust land with direct access onto the SW Coast Path. The picturesque location has a feeling of being at the edge of the world. A perfect place to explore tucked away sandy coves, clifftop walks and a great pub nearby. The space The property is off a private drive servicing all the Cottages and has one allocated car parking space with extra unallocated spaces. There is also additional free parking in National Trust car park 200 yards away. Accommodation From back door leading to: Fully equipped kitchen with range cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine. Ground floor WC, shower and washbasin. Sitting Room: corner sofa, coffee table, storage cupboards Multi-fuel burner, Smart TV and DVD. Dining room. Family dining table seating 6 (expandable to 8). Internet access and landline. Access to stunning view over the beautiful garden and coast. Stairs to first floor landing Master double bedroom with double bed, sea views, built in wardrobe. Family bathroom: bath, WC and hand basin with countryside views. Single Bedroom with views of the countryside with open staircase leading to the second floor. Second floor bedroom: Kingsize bed with sea views to the front. Garden: Beautifully planted terraced garden leading to a lower lawned area with two steamer chairs. Patio with table and chairs for outside dining with fantastic views of the sea and coast. The gate at the bottom of the garden leads straight onto the SW Coast Path and on to the coves and beaches below. Rear Outbuilding: Tumble dryer. Included: Bed linen, bathmats, towels, (Guests to bring own beach towels) high chair, stairgate, electricity and heating, wood burner. Telephone: Landline – unlimited to UK landline numbers. Poor or non-existent mobile reception, therefore Communications are through the internet. Wi-Fi: Broadband available (unlimited). Shopping. The village shop has a basic supply of groceries. Kingsbridge has a Tesco and Morisons plus a lively high street. Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsburys, and Asda all deliver to the Cottages. Guest access We have a delightful concierge service who will get in touch with you before your visit to arrange access and will meet and greet you. They will be available throughout your visit for anything you may need and also offer other services such shopping, a chef service and even a shuttle bus to and from the pub! The cottage is in a fantastic location to explore the glorious South Hams A walk west along the coast path (or a short drive) takes you East Portlemouth, which has a passenger ferry across the estuary to picturesque Salcombe. The market town of Kingsbridge and historic Dartmouth are both 30-minute drives along the scenic coastal road. Dartmoor is approximately one hour drive away. The charming village of East Prawle is a mile away offering a café and shop, and a popular local pub, The Pigs Nose Inn, known for old world style and as a popular live music venue. All of these are situated around the pretty village green. There are a number of pubs and restaurants that can be reached along the coastal path such as Gara Rock hotel, or the award-winning Millbrook Inn, South Pool, which can be reached off the Salcombe Estuary. A short drive away there are a number of excellent country pubs in Stokenham, Beesands and Slapton plus a large variety of pubs and restaurants in Salcombe and Dartmouth. East Prawle has the piglet café for light meals and the Pigs Nose serves popular pub food. At high season it is recommended that you book all restaurants/pubs – often well in advance. The property is off a private drive servicing all the Cottages and has allocated carparking space, with extra unallocated spaces. There is also additional free parking in National Trust car park 200 yards away. Other things to note The Cottage is ideally suited for family beach holidays, with several sandy beaches only a short walk away. For those who want to get away from it all the cottage offers isolation, without light or noise pollution (or mobile access!) and thus ensures total relaxation. Similarly, direct access to the coast path is ideal for ramblers, or for those who wish to observe the local and migrating birdlife. There are lovely sandy beaches on this stretch of coastline, including Maceley Cove, a mile round the cliff path, Gara Rock, 2 ½ miles, and Millbay, towards Salcombe; and Mattiscombe Sands and Lannacombe towards Start Point and Slapton all around 3 to 4 miles away along the coastal path. The beaches are linked together with sharp rocky outcrops below which are a plethora of small pebbly beaches and diving pools to explore.
