Description
An hour's drive from Lillehammer, Viken Fjellgård is idyllically located by the lake Espedalsvatnet, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Our guests can use our boat and canoe freely, or enjoy the jetty with swimming, fishing and fire pit. You can cycle, go on mountain hikes right out of the farm, rustle in the woods, or walk on the trails around the water. In late summer and autumn, you can pick mushrooms and berries. It takes 10 minutes to drive from the farm to the high mountains, and from the parking lot about an hour's walk to Langsua National Park. The space One bedroom is a loft with a ladder up from the living room. Please note that the room has low ceiling height, and opening (without door) with curtain. Made beds are not included, so REMEMBER to bring bed linen if you do not want to rent. Rent for bed linen and towels, NOK 130 per person. Supplement for imposed bed linens: 50 per person. Final cleaning of the cabin is not included in the price. We prefer that guests do this themselves. But if you want cleaning, it costs 1000,- and it must be booked well in advance of departure. There is access to a clothes washing machine in the basement of Kårstua, the other house we rent out. There is a big fish on the door of this room. It is possible to charge an electric car on a regular 10A outlet out on the wall in the basement of Kårstua, by the garage door. Price per kwh about NOK 3. The cabin is cozy decorated and has a large kitchen with long table, and living room with fireplace. We recommend a maximum of 5-6 adults in this cabin, but there are bed options for more The master bedroom has a big double bed 1.80x2m, and an old, wide single bed of 1x1.80m. In the loft there is beds from 3 to 5 people: A 1.20x2m spring mattress. Two spring mattresses 0.80x2m. Two spring mattresses 0.75x2m. We also rent out another house on the same farm, Kårstua, with room for 4-5 guests, also through Airbnb . We also have an annex; a bedroom with a small seating area. Here is a 1.80x2m frame mattress. The annex must be heated with wood burning, and costs NOK 300 per day. The annex does not have its own listing on Airbnb and must be booked separately via the host. Guest access You can park in the courtyard, and you are welcome to use the whole area around the farm. To get to the boathouse, or the Prairie (a fairly flat field north of the farm), you have to go through the horse pasture. Other things to note You can ski right from the farm and up the mountain. Then you can either walk across the ice (when the ice has settled and is safe), about 300m, and get into the prepared trail network that goes up to Melgårdseter (950 meters). It is about 3 km to Melgårdseter, and from here the ski slopes divide out to different hikes in the mountains. The same trail network is also available if you walk 400 m south along RV 255. Or the steep path just up behind the farm (about 100 m) – here you can also choose to continue north to Strand Fjellstue (2,5 km), with nice forest terrain that provides shelter on a windy day. A lightly hilly and fun trail. Or you can drive 3 km up the mountain to Roaseter (900m), park here and start the trip without using force on the steep climb first. Then you enter the easy mountain terrain in Langsua Najonalpark, with miles of prepared ski slopes. It's also nice to walk on snowshoes. How about a trip to Trona, Storfjellroa, or to Veslegruva with its own ice sculptures. This is a copper mine from the 17th century that you can walk into. Sometimes canyon trips are also arranged on snowshoes to Hell. Some trails are finished, but it may be nice to just experience a trip on snowshoes in untouched winter nature. There are a lot of hiking opportunities in this area, so ask the host who will be happy to help you find hikes that suit your guests' needs. There are also opportunities for ice fishing in Espedalsvatnet, and in the nearby area. Fishing licenses can be purchased from the host, at the store, Strand Fjellstue or online: inatur. The nearest store is in Svatsum, and it is open 24 hours a day - about 10 minutes by car. Larger shops and shopping centers are further pirate to Segalstad, 40 min by car, or to Lillehammer, 60 min. To the north is Skåbu convenience store, 25 min by car, or larger shops on Vinstra, 50 min by car. If you want to eat out, there are good lunch or dinner options at the hotels and mountain lodges nearby. It is nice to ski in Dalseter Høyfjellshotell's mini-family hill with elevator, or use the large leatherette from the hotel where you have a great view in Jotunheimen (about 15 min by car). Here they also have rental of skis, sleds and other things. Skåbu (870 m), one of Northern Europe's highest settlements, is also worth a visit, here there is a grocery store, cafe, hotel, domestic shop, and fine groomed ski slopes in the mountains towards Jotunheimen (about 25 minutes by car).
