Built from clay, straw, timber and stone, this 2,000 square ft home offers exceptional comfort, quiet, and air quality you won't find in conventional houses. Designed by EcoNest Architecture, this home features a private sauna, cedar hot tub, cold plunge, river views, and expansive decks - an ideal escape for guests seeking rest, nature and intentional living. The space River Bend Sanctuary is a handcrafted EcoNest home built with timber framing, one-foot-thick straw-clay walls, earth plasters, and natural, non toxic finishes. These time-honored building methods create a space that feels grounded, quiet, and deeply comfortable year round. The 2,000 square-foot home is thoughtfully designed for both gathering and retreat. The fully equipped kitchen features a Wolf range, indoor and outdoor pizza ovens, outdoor open flame grill and smoker, and everything else needed to cook and dine with ease. Large windows and a central Tulikivi soapstone masonry heater look out over the Trinity River, creating a natural focal point for rest and connection. The outdoor spaces are an integral part of the experience. A private river-facing sauna, cedar hot tub, and cedar cold plunge invite daily ritual and restoration. Nearby, a granite lotus mandala fire pit with natural stone seating offers a beautiful place to gather in the evenings, while the expansive deck and stone patio are ideal for yoga, quiet mornings, or watching the light move across the river. The surrounding landscape is designed using permaculture principles and features a mix of native plants, edibles, and pollinator friendly species. Guests will find Meyer lemon and pineapple guava trees, a pomegranate tree, blueberry bushes, and seasonal plantings that support bees, hummingbirds, and local wildlife, creating a living environment that feels both cultivated and wild. Guest access You have full access to the property and it is yours to explore. Guest are encouraged to make the space their own and to unplug from the daily stresses of life and enjoy. We live 50 minutes away and will give you your privacy but available by phone if needed. Other things to note This house is anEcoNest home (one foot thick clay / straw walls) which means it was build to maintain comfortable temperatures during the coldest and warmest months. That being said we have added radiant floor heating for your comfort when it is cold as well as one mini-split AC unit in the master bedroom plus fan for the height of summer.
