Full kitchen and bath, sunny eating alcove, hardwood floors and views of redwoods. The space This comfortable and tasteful studio apartment has its own kitchen and full bathroom. It features views of redwoods and distant hills, a sunny eating alcove with large southeast-facing windows, hardwood floors, a wood stove, and a tiled bathroom. Built onto our custom home, the studio apartment is reached through a shared entry room. The studio includes a Sealy Posturepedic queen-sized bed with soft 100% cotton sheets. The space features lovely art and oak floors. The skylit kitchen includes a refrigerator, gas range, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee maker and electric kettle. The kitchen is stocked with simple breakfast items. Typically these include whole grain bread, butter, jam, instant oatmeal, coffee, tea and creamer. The bathroom has tile floors and a tiled shower/bath; we supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. There is a radiant floor heating system which provides pleasant, even heat. There is also a cozy wood stove. We supply firewood and kindling. Bird song and the sound of the breeze through the trees are the main sounds you will hear in this quiet, secluded corner of Humboldt. You may see deer, raccoons or the occasional fox wander by your window. Yet you are only four miles from Highway 101 and ten minutes drive from the center of Arcata. A gate at the base of our road provides extra security; the code is provided once guests book. Guest access Besides your studio apartment, you are free to use the small table and chairs in the guest section of the spacious deck. You can leave your shoes and umbrellas in the shared entry room if you wish. Other things to note We aim to be five-star hosts and to ensure that you have a comfortable, relaxing and rejuvenating stay. If there is anything you need to make your visit more enjoyable, please let us know! You may meet two cats: Nieve (who looks like a tiny snow leopard) and Guapo. They belong to our absent downhill neighbor but have fully adopted us. They are very sweet and friendly, but please don't let them inside. And beware: they like to hop into cars to explore!
