Step back in time with this 1860's antique style farmhouse. Nestled on a mountainside amidst 65 acres of forest, this home is a truly private and peaceful getaway. Being built in 1999, it gives all the modern amenities and comforts, while all the layout, design, and interior immerse you into an era long past. Sitting up on the ridge side, each room holds breathtaking panoramic views of the valley. The property is complete with a spring fed pond, private hiking trails, and a quaint log cabin. The space This spacious 3 story home @ 3300 sq ft has 5 sizable bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms. The farm kitchen is fully equipped and ready for cooking. The home has all the modern conveniences, including central air conditioning and heating to every room. There are 4 wood burning fireplaces with plenty of split wood to use. The property is such a peaceful, tranquil, and relaxing spot to truly rest and enjoy time with your friends and family. This is a very private, safe and quiet spot--making it the perfect getaway to escape life's busyness. The house is a part of a wedding venue and you will notice mentions of that around the property. This airbnb is strictly for family/friend vacation use, and not to be used for any events — those are booked separately through our venue site. Guest access **Update** we just got Fiber Optic Internet + Wireless, FAST! Here's a breakdown of the layout-- Floor 1 : Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Half Bathroom, Laundry Room and Parlor Floor 2 : Master Bedroom Suite, Master Bathroom, Walk in Closet, Blue Room (2 single beds), and Green Room (1 queen bed), and another full bathroom Floor 3 : Family Room (large bedroom, full bed, bunk bed which has two twin beds, large closet/crib room, sink) and space for 2 memory foam cots (easily movable to any room), Pink Bedroom (1 full bed). Complete house sleeps 12 in beds, and 2 in memory foam cots = 14 sleeping total possible. The living room has an HD TV with a selection of dvds, along with books and games. The parlor holds a piano as well. There are sizable front and back porches. Linens, towels, and pillows are provided in each room. *There is a propane barbecue grill on the back porch as well for guest use. Outside there is an expansive yard with views of the mountainside, the forest, and the ridge. The yard holds beautiful fruit trees, flowers and landscaping. You can see a panoramic mountain vista with views for miles. There is a spring fed pond and a path to a small cabin just 1 minute walk from the house. The log cabin is an earlier 1800 era style with a fireplace, and fun to explore. You're welcome to camp out in it if you have some adventurous ones in your group, or just a visit. There is also a period style carriage house (barn) and antique shed all to help your stay feel of a distant era. Though the barn is not for guest access (that will be locked and for venue customers only). The house sits on 65 private acres of forested land. There are several private hiking trails that take you up the mountainside, to mountain streams and even the ruins of the old coal mine. You can spend lots of time out in nature exploring the ridge, or cozy up next to one of the fireplaces with a book. You can enjoy cooking a tasty meal, or sit back and watch a movie. You could try fishing (fishing rods/basic gear provided), swimming in the pond, or rocking on the front porch swing. You could enjoy the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows and hot dogs, or just stargaze into the wondrous country night sky and find the constellations (far away from the city lights). This is a special place that makes for a wonderful getaway, family vacations, family reunions, friend trips, a Chattanooga vacation with a country twist, or a home base for nature expeditions. ***If you are coming to Whitwell to Hang glide or Paraglide-- this is the perfect place to stay with your crew. The house is situated so you can see the gliders up high in their prime spot all around the takeoff. The house is close enough, your fan club can easily watch you from sitting in the yard, and we're only 5 mins from the landing zone. You can ease the 5 minute drive from the landing zone to the house for a nice meal or warm up by the fire. With all the beauty, scenery, and historic charm, this property is also a venue for weddings (which is booked separately, you can search for our site, same name). Thank you kindly Other things to note Some guests prefer to just enjoy the house and property, though there are also many things to do nearby-- here's a few suggestions and their estimated driving distance from the property: -Watch the hang gliders and paragliders soaring in the clouds (there is a take off spot just at the top of the ridge above the house). We can often see many of them on a good day, from the yard (0 mins) -Visit historic Ketner's Mill (15 mins) Ketner's Mill is a beautiful property along the Sequatchie River, with an historic mill that dates back to the 1800's. Each October they hold a fair with over 150 artisans and food vendors, going on 41 years. -Canoe/Kayak on Sequatchie River (15 mins) The Sequatchie is a very peaceful river, and there is a company in Whitwell that will rent them out, search: "Willis Farm Kayak and Canoe Rental." -Foster Falls (30 mins) Foster Falls is major rock climbing destination in the south It attracts climbers from all over the world. You can picnic, easy quick walk to the large waterfall overlook, hike down into the valley and watch the climbers, or swim in the large waterfall pool. -Savage Gulf State Natural Area (30 mins) A 15,590-acre scenic wilderness area featuring sandstone cliffs, waterfalls & spring wildflowers. -Hales Bar Marina on Nickajack Lake (30 mins) Go see the lake and marina, and they do boat rentals as well. Nickajack Lake is part of the Tennessee River. -Prentice Cooper State Forest (30 mins) 35 miles of Hiking trails, several overlooks, and trails used for off-roading, and horseback riding. -Fall Creek Falls State Park (1 hr) Fall Creek Falls State Park is Tennessee’s largest and most visited state park. The park encompasses more than 26,000 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States. -Cumberland Caverns (1 hr) With more than 32 miles of caves and underground passageways, incredible underground rock formations, beautiful underground waterfalls, gleaming pools. They have daily walking tours & adventure trips. -Chattanooga Skydiving Company (25 mins) Chattanooga Skydiving company is based in Jasper, TN where you can learn to tandem skydive or take classes. -Chattanooga (40-45 mins) Chattanooga is loaded with lots of things to do, Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Point Park, Coolidge Park, Tennessee Riverwalk, Signal Point Park and more
