The Historic Hafner Haus is on Portland's registry of Historically Significant Buildings. Beautiful and luxurious, it is actually the most central single family residence home in downtown Portland! Originally built for Reverend Hafner, the house served as Manse for the historic church next door. Price listed is suggested nonprofit donation. The Hafner Haus is a great example of Portland Style Architecture and is very beautiful. We can accommodate more than 15 people comfortably. There is a extra charge per person for groups exceeding eight individuals. You might consider renting the adjoining basement apartment if your group is rather large . Please check out the separate listing ... "The Hermitage, Hafner Haus, Second Unit". The master bedroom has a King bed , double bed and a lovely deck. The 2nd bedroom a memory foam queen bed. The 3rd bedroom has a loft style double bed and a memory foam Queen below. The 4th has 2 twin beds. We also have a private study which converts to a 5th bedroom with a queen and also a fold-down futon hideabed as well as a sealy posturpedic twin hideabed. Thisroom has a full bath attached. There are also 2 additional hideabeds in the common areas. We have a portacrib, toddler high chair and 2 air mattress that can be set up upon request. Please communicate with us about the number of beds your group will require. The Hafner Haus is huge and consists of four stories. The top three stories comprise the main house. This is the space you will be renting. (the 4th story is an unfunished attic) The additional basement apartment has a private entrance and may be rented by another party. If it's available, you might consider adding it on as it adjoins to the main house. It has 3 private rooms and full bathroom and a total of seven additional beds. Unless you are renting the lower level apartment as well, please be mindful of the other guests with regard to noise level. The house is listed on Portland's registry of "historically significant buildings" We have made every effort to preserve its historicity in a period appropriate way. If you have an appreciation for old houses, you will love the Hafner Haus. The Hafner Haus is owned by the historic church next door. The church is available for events, meetings and weddings. (The guest house is perfect for the bride and brides maids or out of town guests!) We hope that you will feel as though you were in your own home during your stay. Please communicate your needs with regard to number of beds, bedrooms. Generally, we do not allow pets. We have several televisions available for your use. We do not offer Cable TV, but the living room and Master Bedroom have flat screen televisions with DVD players and USB chords provided for use with your own devises. There is a selection of DVD movies available in the living room and a red box location is available within walking distance. We may or may not be present at the time of check in...but regardless, we will be available by phone to answer questions. If we are not on location at check in, Airbnb will furnish you with the code to the front and back door lock as well as the parking gate lock code. Please let us know ahead of time if you have not received these important self check-in instructions. After check in, please send a brief message so that we know that you have arrived safely. Each of these transit systems intersect with each other within 6 blocks - at the downtown bus mall. There is an affordable bicycle rental kiosk directly across the street from the Hafner Haus.
