Welcome to The Goatel in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nestled in a beautiful valley with mountain views, this cozy retreat is located at 'Goats in the Gap' farm in Rabun County, GA. We offer Goat Yoga & Goat Happy Hour for those visiting our farm in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Get ready for a country escape to refresh yourself by therapeutic interaction with our goats, chickens, dogs and cats. Each night includes a Goat Happy Hour Experience. We are between Clayton GA and Highlands NC. The space You won’t find a more serene place in the Georgia mountains with pristine amenities, gorgeous views, that offers interaction with goats! We also offer relaxing Reflexology sessions and therapeutic art activities at additional fees. Unplug from the ‘grid’ and rejuvenate at this restorative retreat! Guest access Wrap around porch with private (uncovered) guest area including low table, Adirondack chairs, gas grill and a hammock. Covered area of the porch is shared space with the owner. There are 2 lovely sitting areas as well as a cozy table for meals. The fire pit in the yard is shared access and has sitting area around it. Guests are welcome to use our wood and have a fire. Guests are welcome to wander in the yard and gardens around the house but must have permission and be supervised to enter pastures or barns. The property backs up to a trail going into the National forest with waterfalls a short 10-15 minute hike away. Guests are welcome to enjoy this hike but must be aware that bears and coyotes do live in our forests. During your stay Sherri can be contacted by text or phone until 8 pm. In urgent situations she can be contacted any time. Throughout the day you may see her in pastures or around property tending animals. Feel free to ask questions about the farm or animals any time! This is a working farm which means our Livestock Guardian dogs work day and night to protect our goats and chickens. Part of their job is to bark and scare off Potential predators. A sound machine is provided in the room for your use to help light sleepers. Other things to note Our water comes from a spring under the mountain and is very good to drink! Coyotes live in the valley and mountains behind us. They are active at night and can be heard ‘singing’ in the night. Some people enjoy this and others don’t. A sound machine is in your suite if you prefer not to hear this type of lullaby.
