Description

NEW CONSTRUCTION! Secluded 3 bed, 3 bath with incredible views on 160 acre private ranch. 1/4 mile away and on the same property from the North Creek Shelter, the oldest known human habitation in Southern Utah. 1/2 mile away and on the same property as the Escalante River and the waterfalls just above the headwaters. The space The Escalante Cliff House was completed May 10th 2019 and is on 160 private acres overlooking the Escalante River Valley and North Creek River Valley. The nearest structures are the Slot Canyons Inn Bed and Breakfast (breakfast available with a reservation) and the North Creek Grill, both about ¼ mile away. The property is in the heart of the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument and is 10 minutes from the town of Escalante, Utah. The G00gle maps location for "Escalante Cliff House" is the exact location. This is a 2200 sq/ft, 3 bed, 3 bath home. The central living room design is inspired by the circular “Kiva” room of the Ancestral Pueblo Native Americans that previously inhabited the land, and left behind several cliff dwellings, pictographs and petroglyphs in the surrounding area. Half of the Kiva Great Room circle is made up of windows which acts as a passive solar heating system in the winter and gives the room a 180° panorama of the valley below. In the center of the room is a large cylindrical stone fireplace for romantic ambiance or fun group evenings. The house features fiber internet from South Central Communications with 1 gigabit download speeds. Above the Kiva Great Room and the master bedroom is a 1500sqft roof deck where guests can enjoy 360° views of the surrounding cliffs, river valley, Boulder Mountain, Henry Mountains and Box Death Hollow by day and the brightest star gazing imaginable by night. Come enjoy the newest, most secluded rental home with the best views in Escalante! FAQ's PET POLICY: NO PETS ALLOWED EVER EVER EVER. I've never and I can't and won't make an exception so please don't ask. I have people that rent the house that are deathly allergic to pets and I have to promise them that there has never been a pet in the house. If I find out that you have a pet in the house, I will call the sheriff and have you escorted out of the house. I'm sorry that I have to be so blunt and hard core about this but peoples safety is on the line. WINTER CONSIDERATIONS: Between Mid November and the end of February there is a possibility of snow on the road up to the house. Even if the road is plowed, it's likely that a 4wd will be needed to get to the house, especially at night. A 4wd is highly recommended during this time. DISTANCE TO MAJOR AIRPORTS: The house is about 5 hours from either Salt Lake City airport or Las Vegas Airport. PETROGLYPHS/PICTOGRAPHS/RUINS: The property that the Escalante Cliff House resides on is home to the oldest evidence of human habitation on the Colorado Plateau (search "North Creek Shelter Utah"). Since that time, many other Native American cultures have called this land home. There are numerous Petroglyphs/Pictographs/Ruins/Arrowheads/Pottery Shards etc… all over the property. Due to the historic and sensitive nature of the property, any person caught vandalizing/removing/disturbing these treasures will be removed from the property and reported to the BLM. Under the Archeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), these acts of vandalism are illegal and are punishable by up to 2 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine. Parties and Events are allowed for a fee. Contact host for details. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house as well as the surrounding 160 acres which includes the Escalante River, 2 waterfalls, pictographs and petroglyphs, Ancestral Pueblo Native American ruins, hiking, solitude and pure happiness. Other things to note 4WD is strongly recommended between November 15th and February 28th. Snow doesn't generally stay on the ground very long, but if there is snow on the ground, you're going to have a very hard time getting up the road in a 2wd. In all other weather conditions the road is fine for any other type vehicle, small car, huge truck, touring motorcycle, etc... The fireplace has candles in it for guest use. We don't burn wood in it because it doesn't draft well and it just fills the house up with smoke. With the candles, you get the ambiance of having a fire without the headache.
