Sandtemple is a beachfront shack, resting lightly on top of a tiny sand spit between Cremorne Beach and Pipe Clay Lagoon with direct water access to both. A unique tiny home where the sun sets and rises over water. Relax and find Peace The space A seaside shack since the 1940’s, we have lovingly restored Sandtemple using up-cycled and sustainably sourced timber. Bespoke interiors and books collected from our travels encourage a feeling of home. Let the sound of the sea lull you to sleep whilst wrapped up in soft, premium linen on the comfy, queen-sized bed. Be sure to pack your swimmers for a dip in the sea or your windbreaker for a blustery stroll along the seaside cliffs. Every window has a view of water and the sun pours in keeping you warm over the winter months. It feels as if you have left the busy life behind yet we are only 30 minutes from the centre of Hobart and all of the attractions available there. It is also only 30 minutes from the airport. High speed broadband keeps you connected with the rest of the world and work (if you must). The kitchen and pantry have everything you may need and the bookshelves are filled with cookbooks. The garden is a simple coastal dune and you walk across daisies to access the coffee/wine seat and through boobyalla to the hidden bath and beach. The exterior is unpretentious and in keeping with the real Tasmania 'shack' aesthetic. Situated on the beautiful South Arm peninsula there are 9 beaches within a ten minute drive and walking tracks crisscross the land. It's wild and un-touristed and a mecca for lovers of clean fresh air, walking, horse riding, surfing, kiting, aurora chasing, cold water swimming, wildlife spotting (just in our garden we have families of pademelons, wallabies, bandicoots and even an echidna passes through occasionally) Not just an Airbnb, over the summer months we call Sandtemple home and as such welcome you into our lives. For the remainder of the year while we explore the world on our sailboat, Sandtemple is your home-away-from-home. We are focused on sustainable and regenerative practices at Sandtemple. Demonstrated through the original shack we have preserved, bush and sand dune regeneration, providing habitat for native wildlife, use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, showcasing the work of Tasmanian makers and employing our wonderful local staff. We look forward to hosting you at Sandtemple, your escape from the everyday. Come and relax and restore yourself. You won't regret it. Guest access Sandtemple is perfectly suited for 1-2 guests and is entirely yours for the duration of your stay. Bring your paddle board, kayak or snorkelling gear for the beach on your doorstep. Bring your kiting gear to kite or foil on the lagoon on the west or off the beach to the east. The shack is set on a large bush beach block and has ample car parking and a security gate that affords absolute privacy. Self check-in instructions will be provided prior to your check-in date. Sandtemple does not have wheelchair access due to the outdoor stairs leading up to the property. Once inside the property, all rooms are on one level. To help us protect the sensitive natural environment surrounding Sandtemple, please leave your pets at home. Sandtemple is also not suitable for stays with children and babies as we are surrounded by water. Other things to note The tides: 1. Being located so close to the water means direct access to the property is sometimes limited by the tides. During high tide, we recommend parking nearby (approximately 50m away) and walking to the shack. We will provide comprehensive tidal information prior to your arrival. 2. Please take care using the steps up to the property and the walkway along the beach, especially at night. 3. By paying the booking deposit, you undertake to use the property and its facilities entirely at your own risk. You accept full responsibility for the use of the cottage and personal risks such as swimming in areas of tidal movement. 5. We recommend purchasing travel insurance prior to your stay at sandtemple. We acknowledge the palawa and pakana of lutruwita (Tasmania) as the traditional custodians of the land, skies and waterways since the beginning of time, as told by their stories of creation. For generations, the palawa and pakana have cared for Country, coexisting with plants, animals, birds and marine life, taking only what they needed. We learn from and honour this way of living through our careful management of Sandtemple.
