Dragonfly Dacha is your retreat when you’ve had enough. Under 2 hours from Manhattan, you’ll feel worlds away as you turn onto our street beneath the pines. The house is on 2 woodsy acres and across the street from a beautiful, swimmable, fishable lake. 4 bedrooms, pet friendly, sleeps up to 9. In the heart of the Catskills, 5 min from concerts @ Bethel Woods, Woodstock site, casino, Toronto Reservoir, restaurants, hiking, skiing, swimming, farmers markets & antiquing! I named my home to represent 2 very special elements of the space. “Dacha” is the term for a Russian country cottage to which city dwellers escape for the healing quality of the natural world. And, I associate dragonflies with my beloved grandmother, who loved our Dacha. May “The Dragonfly Dacha” be your respite from hectic city life and make you feel cared for as if you were in your own beloved grandmother’s home. CHECK IN Smart lock access for easy check-in, personal code provided few days before booking INSIDE THE HOUSE The house is one story with 2 full bathrooms and 4 bedrooms that are conveniently located on the ground floor- along with a pullout sofa in the sunroom. It comfortably sleeps 9 people. It’s perfect for one or two families of all ages, or a group of friends hoping to enjoy quality time in the peaceful woods. The living/dining area boasts high ceilings, a Vermont Dutch wood-burning stove (which we encourage you to use on snowy winter nights for some serious vibes), a large dining table for communal meals, and a comfortable sofa for lounging on. We have a bookcase, from which we encourage you to take books or leave books. We also provide many card/board games! The kitchen is open, facing the living/dining area. The kitchen has a large refrigerator, full set of dishes, wineglasses, champagne flutes, BBQ essentials, and some basic spices. There’s pots and pans, baking tools, stove, fridge, toaster, coffeemaker & tea kettle. (Bonus, a neighbor down the road sells his fresh eggs if you’re interested!). The sunroom in the back has 2 sofas to sink into and a swing chair to satisfy the kiddos, a smart TV w/DVD player, [Netflix, Disney+, HBO and more]. We even have a telescope for those starry nights! We have a dedicated workspace with high speed internet & extra plugs for your convenience. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE 500 Sq ft deck w/ a 10 ft long picnic table + lights & gas grill! A fire pit (please use cautiously during dry season) w/ seating Swing Hammock 2 acres of wooded area for your exploration Our driveway can accommodate many cars Nestled in a very peaceful neighborhood in the hamlet of Smallwood, NY in Sullivan County. There is a gated community beach a 5 minute walk from the house which is seasonal and closes after Labor Day. A beach pass will be provided for your stay. You can see Mountain lake 2 minutes away from the house- I highly recommend walking around Mountain Lake, especially during sunset. It's our favorite. Our community has the following: -Smallwood Forest Reserve w/outdoor exercise equipment and walking hikes -Newly renovated dog park -Waterfall -Tennis courts, basketball court, softball field -Gated beach -Boat launch w/ many docks to enjoy the view Come see a concert at Bethel Woods! Just a 5 minute drive & explore the original 1969 Woodstock site, Kauneonga waterfront dining, boat rentals & distillery. A short drive from farmers markets, antique shops, hiking, tubing/rafting, and walking trails. A 15-minute drive from Monticello's Kartrite indoor swimming park & casino. Monticello has all the shopping and grocery store necessities you need! We will provide you with all the recommendations in our guest book.
