Rose Cottage - a luxurious and relaxing retreat

Rose Cottage is located on a 154 acres farm, Oldenacres, in Cifax, Virginia. We are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are nine miles from Bedford and fifteen miles from Lynchburg. (Less than a half hour's drive to Liberty University, University of Lynchburg, Randolph University and under an hour's drive to Sweet Briar College, Hollins University and Roanoke College.) The space At Oldenacres we board retired horses, most of whom have had careers in the competitive arena. The property features beautiful views of the mountains and fields of grazing horses, a small herd of miniature donkeys eagerly awaiting attention from our guests, hiking trails, and a private 2.5 acre pond stocked with bass. Rose Cottage is a charming brick home, elegantly furnished. It is surrounded by mature landscaping including specimen trees and shrubs and a formal and very private rock-walled garden directly accessible from the home. The home's interior features a large master bedroom suite with a king size bed, gas fireplace and adjoining bath with a walk in shower, additional bedroom with full bed and nearby full bath, office/studio, large living room, dining room, sun room overlooking enchanting gardens and fully appointed kitchen and laundry. Guests may enjoy hiking, birding and fishing on the property as well as having easy access to the Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway and Smith Mountain Lake. Hosts (who live next door) are available to help guests become acquainted with the wonderful qualities of the area. We will assist hikers whenever we can to gain access to the nearby trails and help shuttle vehicles. Please note that in the event of severe winter weather, our cancellation policy will be waived and guests can choose an alternative time to reschedule their visit. Guest access In addition to the lovely views, there are hiking trails and a small private lake stocked with bass. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, birding, and fishing, as well as easy access to the Appalachian Trail. Rose Cottage is within a 30 minute drive to Liberty University, Lynchburg College and Randolph College. Other things to note We now have wireless internet at the cottage.
