Historic Adobe in Silver City
100 year-old adobe house in downtown Silver City, just 3 blocks from Bullard St and 2 blocks from the Yanqui-Texas arts district. Two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a king bed, plus a single bed in the back office. This house has a west-facing open front porch and a private, screened back porch, as well as a pleasant, partly-shaded semi-private walled/fenced yard. The kitchen has a large fridge with ice-maker, microwave, coffeemaker, electric stove, toaster and washer-dryer, plus stainless steel pots and pans. Dining room has ceramic dishes and serving pieces for up to 6 people. All linens are 100% cotton, and we use environmentally friendly soaps and cleaning products. We have improved the wifi to 25 mbps, but there is no television. There have been cats, dogs and mice in the house in the past, and though we clean it carefully, it's probably not suitable for highly allergic people. The yard is fenced and has shade and many flowers in the spring-summer. No poisons have been used in the yard. Parking is on the street. This house was our home for 12 years, and may be where we live in the future. It is much loved and the contents are meaningful to us. If you need to get drunk/ do drugs and break things, then this is not the house for you. We ask that dogs and children be watched after and not allowed to destroy things. The whole house and yard is for your use. The yard is fenced for dogs, though only to 4 feet, so big jumping dogs could escape. Host will be glad to offer advice on life in Silver as well as local sights. Brochures are also provided. This neighborhood is amazingly quiet for being so close to the action! There are historic buildings all around, including a 150 year old church and the Silver City Museum within a block. We are located a short walk (5-10 minutes) from all the action (restaurants, bars, coffee houses, art galleries, movie theater) in Silver City. Limited bus service is a block and a half away. The Gila River is about 30 miles to the west and the Gila Cliff Dwellings are about 40 miles north. The house stays cool all summer long because of the thick adobe walls. There are 2 window air-conditioners that you are welcome to use if it gets too warm. In cold weather, you will need to adjust the heater as the thermostat is not that adaptive to major shifts in temperature. There is one bathroom, so your guests will need to be considerate of each other and not take long using it.
