A rustic cabin with incredible views and just steps to the beach. Sleeps 2 - or 4 if you have children. It has everything you need for a sweet getaway: a queen bed in the loft, double futon in the living space, propane cook stove, and an outdoor space with a fire pit and BBQ. Staying at The Driftwood is like going back in time and doing gourmet camping. The cabin is in a quiet space in the woods - there are neighbors, but they aren't usually home. Renovated with care by the owners, the name comes from an incorporation of driftwood into all the spaces. The guestbook tells wonderful stories from this cabin: proposals, anniversaries, phenomenal sunsets, personal retreats and family vacations. The words that come up most are "peaceful" "cozy" and "quaint". You can access the rocky beach down the stairs from the backyard and enjoy the nature surrounding the cabin. The bay brings in eagles, osprey, king fishers, woodpeckers, and seals. The tide comes in and out twice a day. The great seaside town of La Conner (5-minutes away) offers first class restaurants offering local produce and seafood. Join La Conner locals for Art's Alive, the Tulip Festival, the Poetry festival, boat parade and car shows. Several antique stores line the sidewalks as well as the Museum of NW Art, the Quilt Museum and the Historical Museum. And don't miss the annual Native American canoe races in June. Most of the time it is quiet at the Driftwood but there is a potential for noise from the Whidby Island Naval Air Station across the bay. They do not tend to run on the weekends. Guests will have access to the the whole cabin with full amenities. Host lives across the street. Most interaction is via email and phone. I give complete instructions on what to expect and how to leave the cabin to ensure you get your deposit back. I live nearby and am usually home for phone calls/texts. Rural neighborhood, minutes from downtown La Conner. This is a leash-law neighborhold. Do not leave pets unattended. SKAT has several bus stops in and around La Conner. You can google them at Skagit SKAT transport. It's best to have a car. The bus stop is 3 miles away. The basic pet fee is $100.00 for up to three nights - longer stays may be charged more. There is a one pet maximum. Please check box when booking and let us know you are bringing a pet. Pets must be under 35 lbs, non-shedding and are NOT allowed on furniture or bedding. The ladder to the loft is steep. The stairs to get to the beach are nonuniform. This is a non-smoking property. We kindly ask you remove shoes while in the house. No fireworks are allowed, even on July 4th and New Years. Rates are subject to change between high and low season.
