Description
An Cala is a cosy cottage in a rural location in the village of Benderloch, within only 20 minutes' drive of Oban. There are sandy beaches within easy walking distance. The Fort William to Oban cycle path passes right outside the garden gate. The village has a convenience store and seasonal cafe, which are just 2 minutes' walk away. This is an ideal base for exploring the West coast of Argyll. Ferries run from Oban to various islands, and the mountains of Glencoe are 45 minutes to the North. The space The house is set in a good-sized, informal garden. There is off-road parking for two cars just outside the gate, at the end of the lane which only leads to this house and the adjoining one. Accommodation is all on the ground floor, and consists of a front entrance porch, lounge/diner with wood-burning stove, separate kitchen, and rear porch. A hallway area leads to the two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and bathroom, which has toilet, wash basin and bath with electric shower over. The lounge has a 43 inch smart TV with freesat, and there is a separate Jongo bluetooth speaker for use with your smart phone. There is comfortable lounge seating and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen has large fridge/freezer, microwave, gas cooker with double oven, and dishwasher. Although there is no space for a washing machine, you can use ours in the adjoining property. A small supply of firewood for the wood-burning stove will be provided, sufficient for a couple of fires. Further supplies can be bought from the petrol station on the way to Oban. We provide a small welcome pack which includes bread, milk, eggs, non-dairy spread, teabags and instant coffee, in case you can't get to a shop before you arrive. A baby kit is available, consisting of travel cot and high chair, and a nursery-type fire guard is also available in case you are bringing young children. The garden is mostly lawn and fully enclosed, with plenty of space for children to play. We also have a swing set with a baby seat and a seat for older children. A garden table and chairs are provided, and the chairs recline a little. We have hens which often wander into this garden, so please let us know if that would bother you. If you find the lane a little rough to drive down, you can park in the car park which is 2 minutes' walk away. The house is quite accessible, with a ramp up to the front door and one step down into the porch from the kitchen (which is only needed to access the recycling bins or the back door). There are no steps on the approach to the house, which makes it ideal for wheelchairs and buggies. You have exclusive use of the lockable bike shed, which is inside the garden area, and could also be used for buggies or outdoor play equipment you might bring with you.
