"BonnieCroft" (Built in 1896)

"BonnieCroft" is an authentic, unique, 127 yr-old Adirondack cottage, family-owned since 1949. It is spacious yet cozy, with a welcoming wrap-around porch, living room w/artistic works & stone fireplace. Uphill from L. Placid & Mirror Lake, it's a short walk to Main St's unique shops, multi- cuisine restaurants, boat rentals & beach. Visit the museum highlighting the 1932 & 1980 Olympics, Whiteface Mountain's scenic gondola ride & the Bobsled Run. "BonnieCroft" is sure to be fun & an experience! The space "BonnieCroft" is situated on top of a large hill. There is ample land for children to play, lots of sitting areas, and a charcoal grill with briquettes supplied. Indoors, there is a large living room which exhibits art work by the owner's father & other artists. There are multiple areas to gather & a dining room that can seat 8 people. The bedrooms, authentic in style, have modern, comfortable beds w/pristine bedding; 2 towels & washcloths per person; soap. The kitchen, though not state-of-the art, is charming & has everything needed to cook & prepare meals. All sizes pots & pans, Wok, 2 coffee makers, small espresso pot & grinder; microwave; toaster; spices & some cooking oils. Ask any questions about specifics. There is not a dishwasher. Two of the bathrooms have showers that are positioned in the original claw-footed tubs, but there is ample room & great water pressure. The other bathroom has a tub with hand-held shower. There is a washer & dryer available. The host is always available to answer any questions. Guest access The guests have full access to the house and yard with the owner accessible but not present. Gatherings/parties/events which may include additional people in attendance are not encouraged. The renters should notify the owner to discuss the possibility of such events. . With garbage pick-up, there are rules about the bagging & separation of recycling and garbage. The neighborhood is very pretty and interesting. Aside from walking to town, the LP marina offers a beautiful view of Whiteface and there are boat tours with authentic Adirondack homes nearby. There is ample parking at the house. The owner wishes everyone to have a fun, free and memorable experience at the house and in Lake Placid, and will do everything to help make this happen! Other things to note One of the 5 bedrooms with a king-size bed can also be re-configured into 2 twin beds. The owner must know in advance for that changeover . In addition to the rooms listed, there is also a "kid's room" with toys, books, and a smaller bed available.
