The Maple Lake House
Secluded Artistic Lake House in the North Florida Pine Forest
Description
Enjoy a peaceful stay in the Maple Lake House far away from the noise and bustle of the city. This cozy home is nestled amongst live oaks and long leaf pine trees while overlooking beautiful Mandarin Lake. The home was designed and built by a local author and family friend, Marilyn Maple. Our family purchased and restored her home long after her passing, adding our own artistic flair. We hope you will enjoy our serene and peaceful home, sharing the love of its beauty as much as we do. The space Florida history is evident in the catface scars on the pine trees from the forest-based turpentine industry. Nature is literally in your backyard with visiting sandhill cranes, turkeys, whistling ducks, alligators, gopher tortoises, raccoons, armadillos, deer, opossums, lizards, frogs, and more. Mandarin Lake is located just behind the house so feel free to bring your canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards to float around. The water is murky so most people prefer to float rather than swim. There is always a chance for alligators so please keep an eye on small children and dogs. (Kayaks and bicycle loans available upon request.) Other things to note The Rails to Trail Bike Path, which extends between Keystone Heights and St Augustine is less than a mile from the Maple Lake House. St Augustine, the oldest city in America is less than an Hours drive. State parks, national forest, and conservation areas are plentiful in the surrounding area.
