The Nordic Horse is a farm stay! This is a working horse farm, many of the horses are located on this property. Have coffee on deck overlooking a pasture with the two miniature (little ones can sit on them) ponies and the friendly llama that begs for carrots. The pigmy goats love to eat leaves off the trees you feed them. The house and barn were built in 1880 by Norwegian immigrants Ole and Britta Lee. The space The house has Nordic crosses on all four sides - a vintage Scandinavian tradition. It is a Viking tradition in order to make the house safe. A large swing in the backyard. The yard is fenced for your dogs to wander. It is located on a I-90 frontage road 215th at the Hayward exit. It is the farm with the gate and Nordic horse cutouts on the fence. Some of the local fun things to do: 1) Blazing Star bike trail that starts 3 miles from the house in Hayward, Minnesota Bikes you can use are in the old red barn. The trail now goes 8 miles to Albert Lea. 2) Austin and the Spam Museum is located 10 miles to the East. 3) Albert Lea six miles to the west is a city of original buildings. It has a lake in the center with a walking path around the lake. It is a the original Blue Zone City and organized by the Blue Zones author Dan Buettner. Marion Ross (Happy Days actress) childhood home was in Albert Lea. The Marion Ross Theater has live entertainment. Take a 2 hour cruise on the Pelican Breeze. 4) Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota is located about 50 miles to the NE and all but 3 miles is Interstate driving. 5) Helmer Myer State Park is near Albert Lea. 6) Other areas of interest within 30 miles is Diamond Jo Casino, Harmony Park where concerts are held periodically . 7) Big Island Rendezvous in the fall is near Albert Lea. 8) Owatonna is 30 miles away - National Farmers’ Bank: Designed by Louis Sullivan, this “jewel box” bank features gold leaf arches, stained-glass windows, and ornate murals. The exhibits at Cabella are fun to see - and shop. 9) Albert Lea, Austin , and Owatonna have history museums and villages of yesteryear. 10) Albert Lea has lakes to fish - one is located in the center of town. Docks for fishing. 11) Hike the nature trail at east side of Albert Lea. Guest access Guests have the whole house. Other things to note Enjoy the barn cats, horses, the miniature ponies, Dimity the Llama, and goats.
