Description

Located just a stone's throw from Darwin, The Lake House is a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. Your private deck overhangs Lake Bennett, providing spectacular water views while you partake in a quiet morning coffee or settle in for an iconic Top End sunset. Enjoy safe swimming off your exclusive pontoon, explore the lake in the kayak, take the tinny out for a row. Plenty of activities to tire kids (and adults) out. Or just chill and immerse yourself in the tranquility! The space The Lake House is a spacious, fully self-contained bungalow with plenty of room to move around. It is clean, comfortable and has a homely, lived-in feel. This is an ideal bungalow for couples or families who are looking to enjoy some R&R. There are four beds that sleep 6 people. King-size bed = 2 people Double bed = 2 people Bunk beds = 2 people (1 upper bunk, 1 lower bunk) The MASTER BEDROOM contains a king-sized bed, wardrobe space and an ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom has a split-system AC. The SECOND BEDROOM contains a double bed and a set of bunk beds. There is wardrobe space and plenty of floor space. The second bedroom has a split-system AC. The MAIN BATHROOM is located next to the second bedroom - this bathroom also contains a washing machine, small laundry trough and portable drying rack. The LIVING AREA is open plan and shares space with the DINING AREA and the fully self-contained KITCHEN, including dishwasher. Double glass sliding doors lead out onto a private balcony that overhangs Lake Bennett. On the balcony, there is an outdoor table and chairs. A gangplank leads straight off the balcony to your own pontoon - complete with tinny and kayaks. (People power - oars and paddles - the boats do not have motors). There is also a gas BBQ plate on the balcony. There is a large TV in the bungalow and a DVD player, with plenty of couch space for everyone and lots of DVDs to choose from. Seating at the dining table can accommodate 6 people. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, electric cook top, kettle, toaster, full-size fridge and place settings for 6 people. The bungalow has a clothes dryer (great for those wet towels!) and a split system AC in the lounge room. Vertical drapes on all the windows throughout the bungalow provide privacy, and protection from the afternoon sun. Very young children and infants are welcome at The Lake House. Please note that you would need to provide your own port-a-cot / highchair / baby equipment. Extreme vigilance would be necessary around water safety given the close proximity of the lake to the bungalow. Guest access There are two free car parking spots adjacent to the bungalow on a concrete driveway under a carport. The bungalow has a key safe next to the side sliding door entrance - keys can be collected from and returned to the key safe. You will be given a key safe code just prior to your stay. Other things to note IMPORTANT. The tap water at Lake Bennett is bore water and some people may find it difficult to drink. It is advisable for guests to bring their own DRINKING WATER. Clean linen and towels for all guests are included - the beds are made up prior to your arrival. Soap is provided in the bathrooms and dishwashing detergent / dishwasher tablets are provided in the kitchen. Toilet paper is provided. You need to bring your own washing powder if you intend to use the washing machine. On the pontoon, there is a dinghy (oars - no motor) and several kayaks. Paddles and lifejackets are included. Please ensure that all watercraft, paddles and lifejackets are returned to Bungalow 48 before you depart! Fishing on the lake is permitted. There is some basic fishing gear (a couple of rods, a hand line and some spare tackle) in the bungalow. There are two yabby nets on the deck. You will need to bring bait. Please note that petrol motors are NOT allowed on the lake - electric motors only. The property is walk-in, walk-out. We ask before you depart that you please clean the dishes and put them away, put your rubbish in the bin and place the bin on the kerb, empty the fridge, and generally put things back where you found them. Please bring the motorised shade flap in. In the interests of saving the planet, please also turn all lights and A/C units off before you depart. The fans should be left running on a low speed. Sheets can be left on the beds and towels can be left hanging up in the bathrooms. The bungalow is not serviced during your stay (unless there is a maintenance issue).
