Located in the historic, picturesque village of Arroyo Seco, NM, we invite you to relax in our historic adobe home. Newly remodeled, Casa Martinez's modern amenities blend with original hard wood floors and thick adobe walls to create a feeling of home. Just 15 minutes north of Taos, south of Taos Ski Valley, and east of the Rio Grande Gorge, Casa Martinez is perfectly located for the outdoor adventurist, art enthusiast, historian, or those who want to get away from it all. Over 100 years ago, Leandro Martinez and his bride, Juanita, built the first room of what is now Casa Martinez. One adobe brick at a time, my grandparents created a home for their family. If you close your eyes, you just might feel as though you’re back in that long-ago day....you might hear the chatter of the hens and the baa of the sheep, or smell the newly turned soil in the garden or the apples stored in the shed.   As years went by, the second floor was removed - look closely at the ceiling in the dining room for a seam where the stairs use to be. When the house went to my father (it was custom for the house to go to the youngest son), my parents added on what is now the kitchen, bathrooms, and master bedroom.   Now I, as youngest son, have inherited this beautiful piece of history. I am happy to welcome you to Casa Martinez. I hope you feel the love that has lived within these walls for generations. I hope you will take time to breathe deeply of the fresh air, listen to the quiet, and gaze at the millions of stars in the night sky. And I hope you will return to visit us again, any time you need to recharge your batteries. Guests have full access to the entire home and one acre of land. Enjoy a good book on the porch, a stroll along the stream, and apples fresh off the tree. Look for buffalo across the road on Taos Pueblo land. Your privacy is fully respected, but we are nearby if needed. You may see us plowing the road after a heavy snow, or pulling the trash can to or from the road on Tuesdays. Casa Martinez is located only half a mile from the heart of Arroyo Seco. Pick up groceries & a sandwich at Sol Foods, a green chile cheeseburger & beer at Abe's, coffee & an ice cream cone at Taos Cow, and unique jewelry at ClaireWorks. Getting around is easiest with personal transportation. During ski season, a shuttle is available from the old community center in Arroyo Seco.
